I experienced a very similar reaction when I mentioned Dreamcatcher in my prefered Metal forum. Then it wasn't so prefered anymore and I left. It seems that some of the most bigoted people are part of the Metal scene. I don't care about this community anymore. Priest, Maiden, Metallica, Slayer are legendary bands, but what about thinking outside the box?

I relate my music taste is quite diverse catch me on any given day and I've cycled through pop punk, gqom, k-pop, israeli, baile funk, and j-pop like i just like what i like mate. Also, the irony of someone in a cult lecturing anyone about their opinions is a bit ironic. Is he at least in a famous cult or just a lame one with hardly any members lmao ( kidding obvi )

probably there are certain people who try to gatekeep music in general and think only their brand or genre of music is the best and everything else is inferior...
nothing one can do about that other than just ignore them and move on
