Why I call myself the Girl Group Connoisseur (1 Viewer)

It isn’t to brag or anything, or to impress people, I don't know everything. I’m quite new to kpop quite frankly, going on almost 2 years now. So no, its not because I am well versed in girl groups, there’s too many. Why am I calling myself a connoisseur (I cant spell this word either you’re not alone) when I usually talk about the groups I stan regardless? Its mainly to motivate myself.

With everything I like, I become obsessed. I want to be the best, I want to know everything etc. Not an ego thing. More like, the hunger for knowledge and mastery. When I had the time about a year ago, I researched as much as I can about girl groups. Mostly 3rd and 4th gen, but everything from songs, MVs, performances, dance practices, behind the scenes, vlogs, vlives, fancams, facecams, compilations, pics, concept photos….. a lot of stuff for a lot of groups.

You may ask: why? Whats the point? Its all useless information. And yes its useless to know that WJSN Luda hates saffron or that Minji is obsessed with Rhythm Hive, or that Yeji burnt chocolate in one of her vlives or that Sakura cant wink to save her life. Useless sure, does it make me happy that I know this stuff? Yes. Again, its more of a personal strive to know everything.

Nowadays however, the research has taken a back seat. Its time consuming. Although I still do keep up with releases. But to live up to my self titled name I must make sacrifices. There’s no reason to it other than finding some sort of happiness in the knowing. Which is why I took the title of Girl Group Connoisseur (still can’t spell it btw) I’m too obsessed to call myself anything less than that.

I feel like based on your description you are more aiming to become a sage than a connoisseur

Its cool that you explained it though, I was always wondering why you had chosen that title!

Also I feel like I'm similar, I also spent a lot of time getting into many contents, but now its hard to keep up even with the recent stuff of the very few groups I closely follow
