This is most likely going to offend some people, but this is a genuine thing I've noticed.

So we have a lot of international fans and western fans who will get incredibly upset over Korean netizens going at idols for their race, and showing pride in their race and nationality-mainly those who are Chinese or Japanese.

However, a lot of international fans and western fans have no problem attacking those who take pride in being white.

They also have the tendency to get upset because the history of Japan & China is usually used against these idols even though those idols genuinely have nothing to do with that history or the actions of their ancestors (or possible ancestors).

Yet a lot of white people are hated on for slavery-something most Americans and modern white people had no part in nor support.

So I genuinely don't understand the hypocrisy so do you guys find this upsetting as well or annoying by any means?
Also, if you have more to add to this please feel free to.

Disclaimer: My main point with this thread is to point out hypocrisy from international fans as a whole (of course not all international fans think this way and this is a more western take on it considering that I am from the west). I don't support tossing hate at anyone for their race or nationality personally but find it annoying that it seems to be seen as ok in certain circumstances and not in others.

In general I think taking pride of being white is seen as sth unnecessary since white is often seen as majority thing and like there is no discrimination and such things towards white people. I think taking pride of being white is mostly associated and even done by white supremacists and that's where people's thoughts might go.

In other hand I have noticed that some parts of kpop fandom are anti-white and I would say netizenbuzz is one of these places for me. There has been lot of times I have thought some comment was wtf, for example it was insulting how white people's looks or sth like that, I mean insulting in general how white people look and being racial about it. I remember there being one time I actually called out such comment and person started insulting me for being white.

Though I have to admit that as Finnish person, I don't feel the strongest connection towards being white. It's not definition I commonly would give to myself or group i feel like i'm automatically part of. I definitely define myself as Finnish, but larger group than that, not really? So for me the being prideful about being white feels also bit weird as concept, since I do have pride of being Finn, but I don't find white people as much of a group. Still i definitely don't think someone should be ashamed about having white skin or that others should make racial comments about white people.

I'm not sure if this makes sense though. For me it's just bit difficult topic to wrap my head around. But I have seen some anti whiteness among kpop fans and it just baffles me.

White is more of a generalization and isn't much of a thing in European countries I believe as it is over here. Usually no matter your heritage over here you are just white because of your skin color. There isn't much more to it than that, so if I had to identify with a group here it would be White because that is the group I would be placed in because of my complexion.

The thing is I get that some racist groups use white pride as a means to throw shit around but also I don't think that means anyone who doesn't hate themselves and takes pride in being white and thinks it's ok to be white is racist automatically which tends to be the default just because of those hate groups.

I think that in itself isn't fair. I mean signs were posted once around places that said "It's ok to be white" and I think people tried turning it into a crime or made it out to be a real hateful thing to think it's ok to be white. So like its more than just not being allowed to have white pride it's even that you can't think it's ok to be white.

Yea i think it's quite different. Cause in my country if you aren't ethnically Finn even if you are white, you are still in the minority, you are still different cause of your ethnicity and you might get discriminated.

This reminds me bit of this video I watched while ago, i wonder if you have seen it? It's bit about the same debates

Yeah if you look at the comment section it's a split thing of either the two wokest people being praised like crazy or people feeling sad that they can't feel pride in being white. So there are people who don't have a problem with white people loving themselves and the skin they came in but they don't speak up often and a lot of the media focuses on the people who have an issue with white people loving themselves or being ok with themselves.
