Ok I think we all need a place to discuss the final season as it goes along and where we don't have to use spoiler tags all the time. Let's keep all show discussion here.

Ok final warning. DO NOT SCROLL DOWN UNLESS YOU'VE SEEN THE LATEST EPISODE everytime you visit the thread. Unless you don't mind spoilers lol.

So what did you guys think of Episode 4- The Last of the Starks and the season so far?

I think this was my favorite episode of this season so far, although there was some fuckery as expected. Ever since book material has finished and David Benioff and DB Weiss are writing, it's obvious the quality has dropped although it's still mostly enjoyable.

What I liked:
- The long time the episode spent at Winterfell was much appreciated. The good guys had to mourn and regroup, say goodbyes in many cases.
- Why is the show making Jon Snow such a dumbass, he chooses literally the worst time to reveal secrets.
- Ghost doesn't even get a goodbye hug, fuck this.
- I guess it makes sense Tormund and the Wildlings are going back north, they wanted to fight the Night King, don't care about who rules the seven kingdoms.
- All that talk about the remaining Starks being family and of course Sansa reveals Jon's parentage right away to Tyrion lmao. And Arya fucks off south with The Hound. Although I get why Sansa did it, she really doesn't want Dany to be king, but she might have just overcomplicated matters atm.
- Dany really isn't in the mood to rule together or share authority huh? Straight up told Jon if you want me, then remain a Stark, keep your identity a secret.
- JAIME FUCKING LANNISTER! BEST CHARACTER IN THE SHOW! FITE ME!! His and Brienne's scenes were the best and his goodbye was heartbreaking. Please don't let Arya kill Cersei just because. It needs to be Jaime. Kingslayer becomes Queenslayer and the Lannister twins die together. Please.
- Poor Gendry
- Varys and Tyrion hmm, finally some of that good ol' intrigue we've been missing. Varys wants Jon on the throne, we'll see what Tyrion wants.
- Is Dany really gonna slaughter her way through innocent people? Are we finally getting Mad Queen Dany? Or atleast Tyrion/Varys assuming it's Mad Queen Dany? Or will Tyrion reveal Varys' plans and off him?

Now what I didn't like.

- THE WHOLE FUCKERY WITH EURON GREYJOY WTF!! DOES SUCH A BIG FLEET GO UNNOTICED AND THEY JUST AMBUSH PEOPLE IN BROAD DAYLIGHT??
- It's just that easy to kill a dragon huh?
- Why did Cersei even spare Tyrion, Dany at the end lol. Plot armor AF to set up drama for the next episode. This is just classic D&D fuckery, GRRM would've never written scenes like this.

Still, I liked this far more than Battle of Winterfell all things considered.

Yeah but the Main part of the Robert thing was just that he treated his wife poorly because he was hung up on Lyanna so much. It could happen with Gendry potentially .

And that party scene was so long I was uneasy. They lingered a lot in scenes, it seemed like something bad was going to happen, like some kind of betrayal for sure. At GoT parties seem to end that way.

I just wanna say that there have been leaks till the last episode and so far they seem to be correct, if the rest is as well the ending might go down in history for being the worst ending to a show yet

I liked this episode a lot except for the cliffhanger ending.

Seems more talk this episode n catching up w/whole cast in entire seasons, seems like to me; which I like since it's the last season n I don't expect much catching up in last two episodes.

Martin told Benioff n Weiss the ending long ago so hopefully it's worth it, watever ending they go with. (Nobody Pls don't spoil the leaked ending here, I hope).

The preview gave me hope tat some of the cast get a relatively happy ending at least.
I'm on tenterhooks for the next Two weeks for sure.

I do kinda think that Jaime and Brienne didn't need to hook up though. Although there's love there, their journeys kinda dealt more with honour and duty. It was a cool dynamic that way. I thought the knighting scene was resolution enough.

Just to clarify, I like that they lingered. It brought this uneasy tension to an otherwise hearty scene. It felt more like classic GoT, compared to what it's been lately. Joffrey's wedding kinda had the same vibe before he poisoned.

I do agree about Jaime and Brienne though, although I loved all their scenes together. I never bought that Jaime is attracted to her in a romantic or sexual way, although I could see Brienne having a crush on him.
It always felt more like mutual respect, since Brienne is probably the only one outside Tyrion who views Jaime as an honorable man. Also lowkey shipped her with Tormund so

Him leaving while claiming how evil he is really was heartbreaking and you can't tell for certain whether he believes it or just said it so Brienne lets him go. Probably a mix of both, but a great scene acted really well

Also, Varys vs Tyrion is pretty troubling like you said. We know how dangerous Varys can be. I don't think it's smart to let him know you oppose him.

Jaime n Briene hooking up could hv been cos he gave up on Cersei n wanted new beginning, but regressed when he heard abt Dany's dragon dying, actually I just realized that's contradictory. He shdnt hv reacted the way he did anyway, either he would hv gone south to prevent Cersei's death or stayed w/Brienne no matter wat.
But tat seems DnD (David n DB/Benioff n WEiss') trademark at this point, asspull the character arc to get result they want.)

N Tyrion smart but not tactical at all, he always tells u straight up wat he's planning to ur face, whereas Varys tells u to ur face his plans but always keeps a backup hidden like w/Ned in season one.
We'll see who wins in the end, maybe?
I prefer Tyrion but Martin n Dinklage hv created a very charismatic, sympathetic character between them.
I wouldn't be surprised if bookTyrion is influenced by showTyrion in the last books (or is showTyrion still true to bookTyrion at that?)
