Mixture. A couple of books I've read had endings that left more to be desired and others left me contemplating in a good way.

One of my favorite Hitchcock movies as well has a ending that gives little away and leaves you wondering.

Are we talking final endings? Or season finale type things?

I like the final ending to have everything wrapped up (with maybe a what will the heroes do in the future, type opening). But at least wrap up the current plot points.

But end of a book in a series, or the season finale of a show, then having it on a cliff-hanger or open to interpretation is fine. It can add hype for the next season/book.

I'm fine with either one honestly. I usually gravitate more towards the ending thst tells me what happens, so I know for sure it was a happy ending, but one or two loose threads can be left and that's fine by me. Or a more ambiguous ending is fine ny me if handled well and I'm in the mood for it, or it makes sense given the story.

For me since I'm a hard-core wattpad reader I like both but sometimes the authors make some stories where I think they deserve a happy ending or whatever but instead it's the total opposite of what the readers really want. And for the other one I like to decided because it's what u think would suit it whether if its sad or happy you can finish it with ur imagination
