Fair point. They've already lost a lot of money and influence (to an extent) from the individual contracts not being renewed, and it'll only get worse the longer group comebacks are suspended.
because without all the moneys from their solo activities the only money BP is bringing back to YG is previous royalties and although I think that's considerable I don't think it's even a fraction of what "could" bring in

I don't really like JYP the guy or JYPE the company all that much (a lot of their artists, yes, but that's different than loving the company itself). I will not defend his past mistakes and slip ups, even for a second, however, I do think that the company is improving, slowly but surely. Individual member activities are being prioritized more than they were in the past. Mental health and mental health breaks are taken more seriously by the company as a whole. Strict diets aren't really enforced (from what I know as an outsider, which admittedly isn't much), as long as their weight is fine. Dating bans are much more lenient, and are lifted for established groups. More famous artists have a huge amount of creative freedom to write and produce their own songs, and song covers. Younger artists are still sadly debuting, and I wish they weren't, but at least they aren't sexualized. All of these are things (except for maybe the creative control, I don't know the history with that) are issues the company has historically struggled with, but worked to improve in recent years. Make no mistake, the company has a LONG way to go to be better, and I don't excuse their past stuff, nor am I trying to convince you it's a magical, perfect company in any way at all, but this shows character development to me. I hope they continue on this path. They still hit the occasional bump, but it's getting there.
I think it's true to a certain extent - but for example SKZ (you would know more about them) got their IG accounts last year but Itzy still don't have those. SKZ also have more solo activities compared to Itzy and I think nmixx also have more solo activities compared to Itzy so I think it's changing slowly

I agree with all those things you mentioned (about weight management and mental health issues and so forth) but and it's a big but JYPE can do all those things and give their (female???) artists more solo activities. Those aren't mutually exclusive - you can do both!!! lol Like I said I only focused on the issue of "solo activities" since I see so much potential wasted with Twice during those first 6 years compared to the boatload of solo activities they have now

The problem is I still see a lot of the same issues with Itzy (I like and follow Itzy so I'm more familiar with their situation) compared to say Nmixx who from the little I've seen have a lot more solo activities going for them compared to Itzy

True, I keep on forgetting Itzy doesn't have theirs. You're right that they aren't mutually exclusive and they can do both. I really hope they treat Itzy better. It does make sense to focus on solo activities and I can see where your coming from, and even agree with you.

I do agree that Twice should have been treated better since day one. I'm just glad it's improving though. I also think you have a point about BLACKPINK having more contract renewal power, because since they all released at least two solo songs or more before the contracts expired (You & Me didn't quite make the cut technically, but it's close enough so I'm counting it), they could leverage that, and I'm sure they did.
I was like the only person who said I really liked the long drawn out negotiations period because to me that indicated the artist not the company was in control. BP members have power (probably still not as much power as YGE in kpop) but overall that can only be a good thing for the artist...
It's not just BP either but so many artists that have the power to not just accept whatever deals the originating company throughs at them but can dictate terms and demand (fair or even in the artists favour) compensation

I never thought about it like that, but that makes sense and it doesn't seem as bad when framed like that. I hope that artists do what is best for them when it comes to contract resigning/negotiating/leaving, whatever that looks like.
