ofc this is female only as i never watch the guys.
not picking on any contestants they all did the best they could with what they were given.

The songs are better.
The performances are better.

SBS had a boat load of original songs pre selected girls for each team and song in many cases by the song producers them selves.
none of them were memorable. Many times they just had too many girls in each number.

Heck pick a season of produce (101, 48, gp999, 101 japan s3) there are songs that stand out. Charted ect.

I dunno mate the integrity of the show matters more than the ultimate group or production...

I mean if Mnet wanted to determine some of the final group members all they had to do was do a JYP and what he did for 16

Just state upfront - we will determine 1/2 (or whatever other number) of the contestants and the rest will be determined by popular vote...boom problem solved

Sure, but as tv and entertainment mnet shows are far superior to any of the others i have watched. (excepting idol school that was horrid in every way possible, and the entire group was rigged)

And unlike the company shows the kids know upfront that editing and drama are incoming and signed up for a 6 month or so period of it.

Certainly they should not rig members in or out. I do like A caveat similar to what you said. Ie if the producers feel a change needs to be made for group balance up to X people will be swapped out. ppl would still loose their shi# but it would be legal.

Universe ticket pretty much did that by having the mentors give 2 girls promotion into the debut group, but the rules were fluid the entire time.

Hybe did that by giving the fans i think it was 2 spots. hardly worth the bs of atv show.

If you end up with a poor group the bosses are not really going to care about show integrity.

Elisia for sure kid was great. I like many of the girls heck i voted in this one actually and my picks made it. but i have like no faith in the songs given how bad the ones in the show were.

I think as long as the contestants and audience know what the criteria is - then they decide if they want to join/watch/vote etc etc...I didn't watch it but GP999 had a voting system where the Korean members votes were like 10x that of the Chinese and Japanese members (or something like that) to me that's harsh BUT as long as all the participants and audience knew about it beforehand that would be "fair"

with all the success of produce - it seems each iteration of survival shows is getting less popular than before - and I think there might be oversaturation of such shows and of groups overall but who is to say if Mnet came out with another produce 101 or something that it would do as well as previously

My gut feeling is that iz*one with out rigging was 11 Koreans and 1 Japanese trainee not named Sakura. So he picked 2 member he though would fit less with the rest and pulled the trigger.

Universe ticket is a crystal clear example why they did that. the 2 Filipino girls crushed the field. truthfully both should have been locked into the group in ep 9 not just Elisia. Which is why Elisia had no votes in the final.(strange rules) and the votes were aggregate

My issue is as long as the producers were transparent with whatever system (however lopsided or unfair) it is upfront and they aren't changing things on a whim...

ill bet for gp99 they told them the 50/50 split but did not go into the math.

UT on the other had they knew there would be some sort of passes but they were awful surprised at several of them.
much of the promotion system seemed to catch the girls off guard.
And the show clearly started playing with targets. they designed a 5 level system where after a girl got to a certain level ( which i am sure they had a number for) they would be guaranteed to debut. but after teh first ranking episode the targets were very fluid.

it's the same issue I have with kpop contracts generally - I have no issue with "unfair" kpop contracts as long as those unfair terms were disclosed upfront...

like if you said all trainee debt were to be carried by the trainee and paid off by the trainee upon debut and profit splits are 90% company/10% amongst the members then that would be a very harsh contract but as long as that is disclosed upfront and the company continues with monthly income statements or something = transparency and thus it's up to the trainee/idol to decide if that is what they want to agree with...
