Does the artist being involved in the song make you like a comeback more? (5 Viewers)

I'm of the opinion that I think writing a song and producing it and playing the instruments and singing it and making up choreography are all different skill sets. It's cool if someone is good at more than one of those things, but I actually only need the group to be good at the singing it bit. And if I don't like the end result, I don't suddenly switch to liking it upon learning that the artists themselves picked the song or designed the choreography or wrote the lyrics or whatever.

But I've seen some people on other sites respond to mild criticism with "Well, the idol was heavily involved, so that means you don't actually like the group that much" and, you know, maybe!

like I don’t stan bts but jungkook is my bias so since Magic shop is one of the bts songs I like now I’m like magic shop this jungkook that After i learned he contributed

but now that he’s gone solo and I like his music I’m officially a fan

That's fair! It's one thing to go "this thing I already like is extra cool because it's totally theirs." But I don't really get the fans who feel the need to make themselves like something they don't just because the artist was heavily involved.

Well even for my ults I expected more from mark’s child, like that type of singing doesn’t need much skill and I love his voice and I prefer yeeuns mermaid (soundtrack to my heart) to her solo debut

Most kpop songs aim to be mindless bops, and in that case it doesn't matter either way.

The more personal stuff usually only works if the performers have written them, but that doesn't mean I'll like them just because of that. But I'm more likely to want to like something that aims to be sincere and moving. Not because of any involvement from an idol or whatever but because that's just the kind of music I prefer more.
