Ok this is random ... but like genuinely

is this a rational fear ppl have? You want to say smth to a friend but you're worried it's seen romantically? (like moreso irl ig)

Or maybe it's not even that ... maybe it's because people think I'm cute and sweet and then get all mushy and I'm the one who actually doesn't know how to deal with affection and runs from mushiness

but then if I say something matter of factly as I do (this is what I normally do and what happens), and then they're like "wait you're so sweet" even though I wasn't trying to say it like that and then I still get embarassed

I don't think the problem is romantic interpretations at all ... I think it's just me

well like most things that's something you have to learn to deal with my friend...
I mean one day you (might) want to settle down with a partner (maybe children or not)
you have friends and family who show you affection no or are we just referring to romantice affection?

that they would much rather help others and give praise to others rather than receive it themselves but an intrinsic part of who we are is to be able to help others but also acknowledge that we have help others and receive their praise and their thanks for what we do...

yeah, for me personally one of my biggest fears is complacence but I think I'm taking it too far/need to figure out how to take compliments without getting a big head or getting scared of getting one

like I've said to @Mrs_Minatozaki many times - my ego is so high it's halfway on it's journey to Kwangya

I'll try explain what I do when I sometimes receive a compliment - ask them to explain what is it that I did that deserved such compliment and therefore continue to or strive to emulate such behaviour
