I VIVIDLY remember how much hate, especially SM groups, received for being so untalented and always got accused of lip syncing

And now fans of those groups go around and complain about the newer generations, when they should know how annoying it is

Honestly i don't like most of 5th gen...
It's just not as interesting to me as the other generations. plus everyone is younger than me now


i also don't like it when idols sing in cursive 😭😭 that's why i don't stan purple kiss. I like some of their songs, but then theres others that are super cursive!!

i feel like this is kinda mean so i'll share something that i like that most people don't, as well (you don't have to do this)
i like it when idols come to the u.s. and start acting different. Like some of them will swear, yell out random things, maybe even twerk on stage, and hold up pride flags. But i feel like it just shows that they're more comfortable with us international fans! and they know that we don't care 😭😭

aegyo. most of the time its so forced that it ach makes me die inside.
over sexualized idols. not js by the fans but by the company as well. jaehyun and johnny for example. theyre mainly used for that sexy fanservice but to me i js feel bad for the poor dudes. got 10 year olds saying they wanna sleep w them and shii
hyper-pop cbs/songs. most of the time the only good and "popular" parts of those kinds of songs are the chorus. and when you do listen a good portion of it sounds the same to me imo.
when you know a group's popular songs and some know-it-all fans be like "omg ur not a real fan!" like stfu..?
survival shows. me personally im not a fan of reality shows as a whole, but the fact that these shows are so controversial like for example the mnet voting manipulation thing and how this like starts a whole bunch of beef is js not for me.
shipping. i am heavily against this one. i honestly dont like shipping not js ppl, but even fictional characters unless its real/canon. so the fact that i see like again for example minsung fanart and ffs and ppl being like "omg theyre so cute i bet that they secretly kiss off camera!" ach makes me gag. like those are real ppl, i think they would be uncomfortable if you portrayed them in that way. (this is coming from a person who used to ship idols. ive healed.)

I don't see anything controversial here! idk what you mean by "hyper-pop comebacks/songs", though... but I'll touch on the others.

Over-sexualizing idols - I mean, I get having a crush on an idol, that's allowed. I could also take it if they were in that idol's age range, bc ngl, I did use to have "bad" thoughts about Nick Carter and share them with the users on my go-to BSB forum, but if they're too young to have sex (ever heard that saying, "if your age is on the clock..."?), they're too young to be thinking about it, too. And OMG the company doing so, using idols for their sexuality, that's also wrong on so many levels. Idols are here to share their talents, not their sexiness!

When you know a group's popular songs but some people call you fake - I agree with this! Just because a person only knows Set Me Free or Good Boy Gone Bad, doesn't mean they hate Twice/TXT or don't stan them! Maybe they're trying to get into them so they CAN stan them?

Survival shows - I agree with this, too, especially when the official lineup only has a temp contract... but I'll talk about that in my own comment.

Shipping - I agree... to an extent. Shipping is only okay when they're a real couple. Like, I ship Michael and Crystal Clifford bc they're really married to each other, same as Luke and Sierra Hemmings. That's okay. But what I can't stand is when you go shipping Michael and Luke together as if they were the couple.

idk if it's because im a hag stan so i'm just really used to shipping, but like... back when i got into kpop shipping was one of the biggest marketing strategies (esp for boygroups), you had idols actively and openly pushing their ships (best example is probably suju who literally wrote fics about themselves lmao). back then there were a lot of delulu fans, but i like to think that most shippers nowadays don't actually believe their ships are real?
for me personally it's mostly just for shits and giggles. like when engaging in shipping/fic i only see them as the character they cultivated as their on-stage persona, not their actual selves. plus, my favs have explicitly stated they don't mind this type of fancontent, so i don't see any reason to stop? if i enjoy it and they don't mind, i don't think there's a real moral issue.

BUT ALSO i don't stan any 4th/5th gen groups so like idk how it works there (onlyoneof is one of my ults but i dont engage with the fandom in any way). i guess it's different since fan culture has changed a lot since 2nd/3rd gen, so obviously what i said may not be relevant. this is just my own view on things.

survival shows - my main issue is that kids should NOT be in contests, especially not without close psychological monitoring and mental health resources. especially as survival shows are very ruthless, both in on-screen and online judging, and with the editing on some of these shows things only get worse. also doesn't help they're rigged af.

messaging apps - god i hate those so much. it's just weird. like... why would i want some guy i don't know texting me... and you want me to PAY for it?? no thanks. the only reason im subscribed to eunhyuk's is to get fanclub benefits (thanks for putting that behind not one but 2 paywalls, fromm)

challenges - THEY ARE. SO. ANNOYING.

debuting untrained idols - not gonna name names but some 5th gen groups are very clearly not properly trained, especially in the singing department. this is mostly due to the trend of debuting really young idols... they just don't have time to get enough training and that comes to bite them in the ass later. obviously this is the companies' fault and not theirs.

Well, something that most people like and i dont???? I dont find majority of NewJeans members specifically pretty. And their music isnt what i vibe with either. Actually now that you mention most of the idols debuting in the recent years are meh.
