to the situation between HYBE and Min Heejin.

It's sad to see the girls in NewJeans and ILLIT being affected.
They need to be protected somehow.

i don't think it will be a downfall, but their reputation will indeed be tarnished.
I think it will be more felt in the non-BigHit groups.

To be fair you are talking about the company that stubbornly defended Garam then when they put her on hiatus did a total 180 seeing Le Sserafim not be affected by it and kicked her out which was an incredibly fast way for a company to just do something shady in daylight like that.

Yea teh Garam thing was crazy. i still really think she was on the correct side of that.

I cant think of a company that has got it right. they may do ok for a act or 2 but positive consistency is not to be found.

A random article isn't good evidence. It could just be the journalist being overly-enthusiastic about Illit. Even if the journalist was doing "mediaplay" for BHS, that would just indicate that he wants credit for exceeding NewJeans' debut success, not that he is intent on shelving them or whatever.

But on the other hand, it's a mistake to assume that it can't possibly be true because companies are rational actors that only care about their bottom line. Because that's not usually the case. In this industry alone, we have YHS proudly admitting that he sabotaged a girlgroup so he could marry one of the members 💀
The way both Ador and HYBE have gone about this situation indicates that neither party is behaving rationally. Even if we believe one side is completely truthful and acting in good faith, they will have exposed themselves to blowback from the very public way they have engaged with the matter.

It's absolutely plausible to me that HYBE could act petty as hell to their own detriment, simply because they're already doing exactly that right now.

overall thoughts: I think both parties are engaging in mediaplay but hybe fired the first shot and have historically good relations with dispatch; but overall the whole press conference made more impact

hybe tanked overall entertainment industry stocks down and are shooting their own credibility, I don’t know how their shareholder structure is but an unwieldy management team is hardly ever seen as a good sign and they’re making themselves a huge target for activists

in the end of the day I think it’s an ego thing between the execs, plenty of past giants had fallen for lesser reasons, but only newjeans really has everything to lose from it

Yeah I'm neutral too. I'll never support a corporate company like HYBE and Min Heejin is a weirdo with minors so she's a no no in my book. Sidelines it is!

I wouldn't say I'm totally neutral as iv listened to lsfm n newjeans; they're both ok to me for casual listening(unforgiven choreo video had me just short of stanning/biasing kazuha n i listened to it on my phone every once in a while but I fell off after tat).

I do hv a soft spot for underdogs(not MHJ being a millionaire underdog in this situation, LOL) so I root for NJ/LSFM to be ok, so I hope hybe doesn't waste their potential/wreck their future.

As I see it, hybe had 2 successful ggs(i think previously only 2 <active> ggs-gfriend & fromis9) but tried for even more, I'm minded of the saying/idea of not reaching for more than u can grasp. Now the consequences of tat are playing out n its to be seen if hybe (since/after illit's debut) can hv 3 successful active ggs<total>/or more, for watever definition of successful/active. 3 comebacks per yr for lsfm/nj/illit(?) maybe. Let's wait n see.

Again i am neutral and dont support neither HYBE neither MHJ. #FreeNewJeans from both of them

However i think is pretty obvious that the CEO is greedy and bitter af bc he didn't like the group was not made by him and that he can't have an input about what they release, is having more success than LSF so clearly Hybe is trying to sabotage NJ in prol of ILLIT.

That long vacation sounds a lot like they wanna put the group in the dungeons while promoting the sh*t out of ILLIT and made everyone forget about NJ.
Like, this is some kind of sh*tty SM strategy with the difference that at least SM usually didn't put their groups in a long hiatus but more like they still gave them comebacks but stop promoting them at all and put their new group that they wanna make the trend all over the current trendy group content so that part of the fandom will be swiped out eventually.

If this was not exposed, it would had worked quite well giving the "success*" ILLIT is having. NJ it would slowly get the GFriend treatment since they found a substitute that can give them 100% of the cash back and he could finally brag that the group is 100% his.
If you ask me this bitterness goes back at the time he had his pride hurt bc of GLAM and the fact he was scared of making ggroups
