Have any of you broken a bone but put off going to the doctor? (1 Viewer)

Now granted I only broke my foot (I’m more of a tearing ligaments type of girl anyways) and I also didn’t know it was broken. I thought it was a minor sprain or something. But not only did I not go to the doctor but I also decided it didn’t hurt enough to skip out on my gymnastics competition. So I competed. On a broken foot Funny part is I placed on the two events that require feet the most (vault and floor) and would have won beam if I knew the dismount I was doing didn’t count (another event that requires feet). I easily could have changed it to one that did. After the competition I gave my foot time to get better but 2 weeks later I still couldn’t walk without pain, so I decided to go to the doctor. Only then did I find out it was broken. Oops

I never broke anything luckily! But if you do break a bone pls get medical care asap because you actually lose blood when you break something! ''For example, a bone fracture of the thigh bone (femur) can result in 1-2 liters of blood loss.''

Not broken but fractured my finger. I thought it was just sore so I just put it off getting checked Eventually I did and I got a splint for it

Not broken but fractured my left middle finger on high school graduation day ... how ironic

So my parents thought nothing was wrong and didn't let me go to the doctor for 2 weeks so it wasn't me myself tho

I took a tumble back in 2017 and landed on my left wrist funny. I thought it was just a sprain bc it didn't immediately present itself as a break. Spent the whole summer in a wrist brace, waiting for it to heal, and putting off the doctor and putting it off and putting it off... I only found out it was broken that September when my mom dragged me in to finally get x-rayed. My fall was in June of that year, so I went three months not knowing... and as a result, I have a permanent crick in my left hand bc it had healed improperly.

I learned the hard way when my grandma broke her hip and she stubbornly didn't want me to call an ambulance (long story). 3 days later the doctors told her she was very lucky because she had lost a lot of blood. So yeah next time I'm not listening to my stubborn grandma and calling for help skjfhskjfs

That’s a long time Its good you had a wrist brace at least, I bet the crick would be bigger if you had no support at all. I actually have that in my finger, but I did go to the doctors, it’s just that they told me to buddy tape and in the end it healed crooked

Well see, the issue for me is I get so many joint injuries I never go to the doctor for them so I may have something broken and not realize it.

Yes it was during one of my basketball matches I was going for the basket but tripped pretty badly and the iron of the basket's pole's bottom broke my wrist but I didn't realise that and continued playing making it even worse There was swelling but I thought it was because of the fall
After two or three days the movement in my wrist stopped and the pain was terrible so I had to go and see the doctor

my gramma was stubborn, too... in fact, she died bc she was stubborn and didn't use her Life Alert button. Twelve years without her five days ago.

Granted if you’re from the US I can understand not wanting to call one. Insurance will usually help but you never know when it’ll be out of network and charge you an absurd amount Speaking from experience

Luckily I'm in Canada so no absurd hospital bills. My grandma just has a big ego and thought she'd be completely fine.... she wasn't fine in fact, she literally dragged herself to the upstairs bedroom on her butt...... crazy strong grandma smh

Yeah in that case that’s definitely pure stubbornness. It’s good she got help in the end. But honestly I feel like if I was in Canada and ever needed an ambulance I would take it for the extra bonus of flexing on your southern neighbors

That's pretty valid haha My boyfriend is American and always tells me about the crazy prices over there

i haven't broke a bone before but it's always good to go check it out with a doctor ASAP if u broke or fractured a bone
