I definitely was and to this day honestly. There are times where I appreciate my mom being over protective because that means she cares. However, it hindered me in parts of my life where I feel like I can't take care of myself

yes, that’s why I moved out when I was pretty young
I have a good (and now even better) relationship to my parents, but I knew I had to live my own life to be truly happy

same as Vix. Oh, especially education-wise! "Pass" wasn't even in my mom's vocab, it was always ace it, ace it, ace it. I meran, ik she wanted me to be the best student, but that's a lot of pressure, man! She was a little bit lenient, like if I got higher than 90 on something but not 100, but anything lower than that got me a lecture going off about "maybe if you did this, that, and/or the other, you would've done better".

To some extent. There were definitely rules and standards. I used to wonder if my hermit habits were because I didn't have a choice. I've never gone out with friends as a child. Couldn't date but honestly that's not even a necessity now. I didn't know how bad it was, until once in college I called my mom to see if I could go off campus with my teammates. (I was in a whole nother state too). There's a good amount of things I've taught myself. In college and moving out at 20.
Love my parents. I appreciate being protected, but at some point I wish I was taught what they were trying to protect me from in the first place. How to protect myself. At least I'm very cautious and thoughtful about everything.

Wild, I was just watching a yt video about this point last night. I'm pushing 30, feeling 19. But hey, I've made it this far learning things myself. It feels good proving to myself that I can adult.

Yes, education and behaviour wise. Anything below perfect was a failure. One parent was more lienient than the other though. As I grew older, the strictness went away

not strict in a sense of force or household set rules, but was met with a lot of aggression for not living up to expectations, disappointment, or general things that i was never pushed to do in the first place. i can't figure out how to word it but i hope that makes sense. its like skipping the being strict, setting up rules and boundaries, part and just going straight to the yelling lol.

Not at all. We still had rules, but overall they let us do whatever. Grades were very important for them, but it is not like they pressure us.

Oh I definitely had moments where my mom would lecture me about what i should've done with my life. Not really with grades but just how I acted if that makes sense
