To have difficult/controversial convos on kpop matters?

I love KPS and it's ability to be active without the mess but it does seem like sometimes we're afraid to criticize idols or say negative things that might offend.

I think because of that lack of blunt honesty, we tend to get extra sensitive than we normally would anywhere else.
What's the point of a peaceful forum if we just skirt around issues?

Maybe that's just me.

I was open to having a Bashing Thread. However in the end the staff who were for and against it managed to find a middle ground by bringing in the Change My Mind Thread.

But to answer your concerns. There's nothing against discussing talking about something that's controversial and as long as your opinion is constructive criticism then that won't violate against the rules. I've seen reports before that I felt don't need addressing because the OP had a valid opinion. Whilst I will only react to a report if its a straight up bash against a group or idol.

I agree that we all moved here because we were sick of the constant bashing that went on on another forum. But that issue was with the constant trolling that went on unpunished. However I am (and I hope many others are) still up for debating controversial topics and sharing my opinions no matter how direct and blunt they are. As long as the postings aren't trolling to only get reactions out of other fandoms.

I mean if you have seen some of my comments and threads I'm not afraid to say my opinion here even if it's bit negative. I mean more afraid than I would usually be in kpop forum, well probably less actually since I have more confidence that people are able to take things as opinion that are just opinions or jokes that are jokes and not misinterpret me.

I've thought about posting things that might come off as controversial, but in the end the majority of things I might want to say that might fall on that line end up more (at least in my thoughts) as bashes or depredations, and it's just best to not share that because I wouldn't appreciate the same thing being said about those I respect and enjoy too.

I get what you mean though, but in most other forums where these types of threads have been made (the "controversial ones") they usually are created upon the basis of shading someone/a group/a fandom and end up in a toxic puddle of goo 99% of the time. I think the main reason we haven't really seen many controversial threads or comments here is because people just don't care to start anything or get into heavy debates. They all like what they like and leave others alone on what they like; if they don't like it or agree with it, instead of saying anything about it, they just leave well alone.

It's actually something I really like about this forum thus far (the ability for people to leave well enough alone if they don't like a group, fandom, artist, something outside of kpop etc). I do agree though, that I would love to see more engaging topics - but I also don't think it's mandatory.

I like it when people have different opinions than me, and love to engage in those sorts of conversations.

Problem is that some people get so offended and triggered and most of the time, I have no patience or energy to deal with that; Kpop is far too trivial a subject for me to deal with that unwarranted sensitivity.

Why do we need to criticise idols or say negative things? I know for me, part of why I came here was the lack of negativity and the respect most users seem to have for others' opinions, even if they differ from their own. So much in kpop that people call "controversial" is just idiots arguing their personal opinions and refusing to concede or see other sides. We do discuss controversial things here, just not the petty, shallow ones most places do that involve nitpicking on an idol's looks or skills. I don't even see any of the oversensitivity you're talking about, tbh. I'd rather we not screw up a good thing, because what's the point of just another toxic forum? There's plenty of those already.

I have no problem with discussing negative stuff but the problem is when because a thread like that does well then everyone starts making threads like that and seeing 50 threads about why Jennie sucks or why Twice are talentless is B O R I N G.

I have no interest in uncreative discussion threads about kpop that boil down to the OP showing their distain for a group and saying "wElL iTs mY oPiNiOn", I could get plenty of that on Twitter which I don't use for said reason.

So if someone wanted to make a creative discussion thread that isn't just a thinly veiled way to shade/bash a group you don't like then i'd be interested but very few people can make those.

Sometimes, people just don't care about the so-called "controversial" matters of KPOP. To some, KPOP Is just that - KPOP. Life is too serious and problematic enough that whether someone is lazy, someone is fat, someone is underrated, someone gets no lines, what's going on in a fandom, etc. don't appeal to those that have more important things.
