i think their response is because of the backlash from kfans who sent funeral wreaths to the building <_> if their "core fans" are boycotting the group for including SH then they might not be willing to risk it

Chances are those fans would still buy the album though since lots of people run their mouths but never back it up like Blinks would try to do stuff for Blackpink for years and their sales were never affected by it even though YG could've copy and pasted the response every time pretty much.

People love to talk tough but very rarely do they ever have the courage to actually do what they say.

That was the main reason, he was also accused of smoking (eating in a family restaurant with alcohol pictured behind him) and dissing another idol on a private livestream (this was false but it did become a big issue until it was debunked)
