At midterm, I am currently failing statistics (I genuinely do not understand a thing after asking for help repeatedly and using external sources)

Part of me finds this hilarious because I am a solid A student, but I am starting to panic because I need to pass. I refuse to take statistics again ​

In high school I failed Biology(or got a D/C grade which is almost a failing grade). There's a year end/end of high school test in my country which is(was, idk if still is) equivalent to GCSE(or kinda like SATs, idk) or lower than a baccalaureate(which either dint exist then or I just didn't know about). I got good grades/results in maths, physics n chemistry (not sure abt end of high school tho). But geography n biology tasked me(especially biology with its millions of terms which needed to be memorized).

I think u just shd stick to it as much as u r able to, sometimes maybe u can just pass the threshold of understanding statistics or pass it by rote(I am bad student/test taker tho-i rmbr end of high school I was reading a chapter either walking 20/25 minutes or taking the bus to my school to take end of high school exam n the chapter I read or the facts I read were on the exam n I hadn't known/read/rmbrd those facts n I confidently took the exam after memorising the chapter/facts n iv forgotten everything from high school now. I dint go to Uni/college(unless u count art college n I even dropped out/kinda dint complete all my assignments/projects then). So my advice might be wrong 🙃😅🙂😔🤔😕

I can relate to the struggle, because I also was usually a straight A student, or an even mix of A's and B's at worst. I also did poorly in math and math related subjects too, even with help. I don't blame you, I'd refuse to take more math than I absolutely had to too. I wish I had some concrete advice, but I don't really have a lot of that, because I haven't gotten a lot better at math classes, just no longer needed to take them. It's good that you're going to tutoring and trying to get help. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, you won't need to take any more math classes one day.

Actually, I do have one piece of advice: try teaching what you're learning to someone else. If that isn't an option or you don't want to do that, make a sideshow that recaps what you're learning in class and share it with your classmates (this has the bonus of helping your classmates too and not just yourself). They say the best way to learn something is to try to teach it. This also helps you pinpoint the exact thing you don't understand (it'll be the parts you struggle with the most when explaining them to other people), so you know exactly what to learn and it feels less daunting than trying to relearn everything taught in the class.

Dw you'll do great. I failed an exam several times before in uni. I was reading this long book for it that the teacher asked and didnt pass. One of my classmates told me to only study the shorter version and it worked 🙄

Stats is brutal. like much of math it can be a light switch thing.
i took a 4-500 level genetics probability class and the entire class failed the mid term....
