yet more idols debut than ever beforeTrue-but there is already a decline in people wanting to be Kpop idols. Obviously, I'm getting my information from a sleazy news site BUT I guess there has been a noticeable decline in people wanting to become kpop idols. I don't see things changing unless what is normalized changes AKA not hating idols for having a life.
Are you noticing a pattern?yet more idols debut than ever before![]()
no? But I also highly doubt that the info you got from that sleazy site is trueAre you noticing a pattern?
No, but if more groups debut there are more opportunities, which makes the choice even more attractive (it was already attractive to many when the situation was a lot worse in the past). Also I see a huge influx of trainees from other countires coming in.@Moguri why does the fact that more idols debut now have to mean that more people want to be idols? Many people who want to be idols never succeed. Companies can and do debut more groups, but does that mean that it has to be because of an influx of people who want to debut?
It is possible, just very unlikely@Moguri to me it feels like the difficulties idols face and the abuse they can face is becoming a lot more known. When BAP sued TS it was huge, now when someone sues their company it’s unknown among non fans because it happens so much more. I’m not saying it has to be the case that it’s less desired now, I just don’t see any reason to full on doubt that it’s possible.
the KOCCA has data to back up the original statement about the decline thoughI have no data to back this up in any way, but I find it illogical that now of all times less people should be interested in becoming an idol
However, it has recently been revealed that the number of trainees who supported K-pop strongly has sharply decreased.
According to data released by the Korea Creative Content Agency, the number of K-pop trainees belonging to agencies, which was 1,895 in 2020, fell to 1,170 by the end of 2022.
This is a 38.3% decrease in just two years.
Not only has the number of aspiring trainees decreased, but the proportion of existing trainees voluntarily giving up has also increased.
The rate of trainees actually debuting as celebrities decreased from about 80% in 2016 to about 65% in 2022, a reduction of about 20%.
KOCCA is a very credible source I guess, can't argue with thatthe KOCCA has data to back up the original statement about the decline though

whether or not you are feeling more idols are debuting, or if it's illogical to you.
statistically yes there's less trainees/not as many people wanting to debut
Thank you for the extra information-I only had one unreliable source.the KOCCA has data to back up the original statement about the decline though

Also to tie this back to the original discussion, if less trainees are available, thats even more incentive for the companies to focus and force more of that AI stuff..the KOCCA has data to back up the original statement about the decline though
