i refuse to stan:

• le sserafim due to yunjin wearing an antisemitic dogwhistle and saying it's her favorite
• qwer because the members made misogynistic comments
• young posse, badvillain, blackpink, many others due to the misuse and appropriation of aave
• new fifty fifty due to their company abusing the previous lineup
• geenius due to their company being run by former bbc staff (the company that abused loona)
• hyuna due to her fiance/husband idk if they married yet
• fromis_9 due to the insane rigging. ik its been a million years im just salty lmao their music is rlly good
• ily:1 due to baby-stan-anyu thinking they're CSR's rival and fervently refusing to engage with their content. ive obviously grown up but i still have a bit of an aversion

As for the new lineup of Fifty Fifty, Attrack did not abuse the girls, The Givers did. That is often a common misconception. And The Givers are no longer associated with them. I was hesitant on supporting them at first but decided to look into the case from both sides. there really doesn't need to be a reason per se

one don't like their music - don't stan
one doesn't like their company - don't stan
the idol did something problematic in one's opinion - don't stan

however it also means the vice versa is true that one can stan a group for whatever reason one wants

That was The Givers, not Attrakt. Attrakt may not have been perfect, and they did turn a blind eye/didn’t investigate further. But no company is good. There’s also claims that the three former members lied about portions of what happened to get out of their contract faster. Korea seems to support Fifty Fifty, and want Ablume to be blacklisted. I don’t think thats right because they did suffer abuse and manipulation under The Givers. Personally I don’t dislike any of the eight girls and will support them all.

im also just rlly sensitive to this kinda stuff bc im jewish and have dealt with antisemites/nazis who use 88, but im fully aware that it's not a well known thing and i wouldnt expect anyone who wears or uses the number to be a nazi, im just rlly cautious unless they clearly state they're not one (esp since yunjin is from america and as an idol she cant state her political beliefs, so it makes sense that she would have to use a dogwhistle. NOT ACCUSING HER OF THAT but it's a possibility)

I can see that for sure. I have seen people hate on the individuals as opposed to the people behind the abuse. But also based on the support in Korea, I don’t understand why some people hate Chanelle, Yewon, Hana and Athena for joining the company. Whether someone choses to support them or not is their own decision (neither decision is wrong as long as it is informed and not fueled with hate). The case is definitely not as clear cut considering that Keena returned to Attrakt, Sio/Aran/Saena are redebuting, the difference between Korea and international support, etc.

Yeah I never really understood people jumping to that conclusion but, oh well, what can you do? People will make their own choices of what to say. At the end of the day, no matter who the idol is, they are most likely listening. At the end of the day as kpop fans we all just want our faves to be treated well.

im just way too tired of giving my all to a celeb and then finding out they hate me and my entire religion. if an idol drops a hint, im not gonna take the chance. its rlly exhausting especially at this moment in history where there's a resurgence is nazism and neonazism, and there are celebrities openly admitting to having those beliefs and still having a strong fanbase despite being literal nazis

other than that, i obviously won't watch or listen to anything by sex offenders or those who are openly homophobic or racist as i don't want them to profit off that, for example i won't be watching squid game on a legal platform. in general my definition of stanning is only supporting their work so i try to not put those people on a pedestal and assume that all rich celebs are bad people (or... just not very bright) and then be happy when they prove me wrong. also i'm a white european so such thing as cultural appropriations is not for me to judge or accept the apologies for.

guilty of this too ngl i often mentioned 88 as my favourite number (e. g. in threads "give me a number and...) but that's because i associate it with back to the future which is my favourite movie ever. after all when it comes to things with multiple meanings in different languages and places it's easy to make a blunder like that, but then again i don't know yunjin so i cannot say what her intention was.
