Yes I do like fun facts, thanks everyone for asking
Anyways I decided to do a fun fact daily and let you all deal with it and decide if its worth remembering or not.
If you actually care and want to be tagged or want one about a specific subject just let me know and Ill see if I have anything.
Todays fun fact of the day is about earthworms.
Many of us likely know these creatures, kids love going outside after a rainstorm and watch the worms and catch them and dare others to eat them or whatever kids these days do.
Anyways, this is a fact specifically for those who live in the USA. Worms are touted as great and useful creatures who help the environment by making the soil more nutritious and better for plants to grow in. There is some truth to this, when gardening worms do in fact help keep the soil churned up and many plants benefit from them. However, this is where their benefits end. Worms are actually invasive species, and one of the things they do is take nutrients from the top of the soil and deposit them farther down. While this is a good thing for plants in Europe and Asia who have grown to use these nutrients deep in the soil, plants in North America, which lacked worms, did the opposite. They evolved to take nutrients from the top of the soil, so worms are depleting their supply by taking the nutrients from there.
Those darn worms am I right
Appreciate ecology
