Not the news that I was expecting (1 Viewer)

Well I thought that things were going well but turns out that wasn’t the case.

I found out my grandmother passed away and my older cousin told me while I was heading to the bathroom around 7 in the morning. Throughout the whole situation, I was very hesitant that things would be better with her health even though the news I was getting from them was hopeful… Turns out it wasn’t the case after learning the news from today

Yes. I am doing alright and I’m handling the bad news pretty well despite… But what worries me the most is my aunt (the one I am staying with), who really didn’t take the news well when my older cousin (her daughter) told her the bad news. I gave them some space. Plus the last thing we need is for my aunt to get sick while we are out of the country.

Now, I am just there getting ready to get head home to run some errands (mostly to check the mailbox, pick up my suitcase, water the plants, pay the rent, get the clothes I have to wear for the ride to the airport, and get the coffee my mom asked me to get).

My cousin bought red eye flights to DR for tonight for me, my aunt, my other older cousin and his girlfriend who driving to NJ from Boston, and herself so we can all leave together.

I don’t have an exact age but she is in her mid to late 80s (I don’t visit her that often).

Thank you. I know that people are not reacting well to the news but I did talk to my mom, who was already in DR. It was her telling me to do an errand I need to do at home.

I can understand the feeling. When my grandma passed away, it was very difficult since she was the glue holding my extended family together for us. Now we're not even on speaking terms anymore.

I'm glad that you can have that support from all sides of your family and heal together

My grandmother and I have always been cordial towards each other. Because we live countries away, I don’t really see her as often as I can because flights can get expensive. We would have small conversations over the phone about how I am doing (I don’t have much to talk about in my life). So this news came as shock since she was my last living grandparent.
