there are dodgy people in every fandom regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, age etc etc

but just because there are bad apples in every bunch does it mean we judge an entire group by the actions of a few?

what I mean by that is from my saying " the silent majority is often drowned out by the vocal minority " is that social media is an echo chamber - the most controversial opinions are the ones highlighted and brought to the forefront

If I make a post appreciating an idol it probably will get no traction - but if I make a negative post saying how said idol can't sing, can't dance etc etc people are gonna respond accordingly

and thus the silent majority is the "good" aspects of the fandom/general public - they consume their favs content and music in the peace and quiet and they are the majority. It's only the people who do have controversial and "dodgy" opinions that are loud and outspoken and feel the need to espouse their opinions that gain the most traction and thus that minority can be anyone regardless if they are korean or chinese or japanese or western or otherwise
