As many of you know, I've held 3 groups in as my ults ever since I got into kpop: Girl's Day, SNSD and T-ara

And as much as I love them, I'm finally admitting that it's time to let go of them.

As much as I have been holding onto them these past few years, I think I'm finally ready to admit they've all disbanded. And it feels wrong to say I ult disbanded groups.
And while I still love them and will continue to support some of them, most of them have continued down paths I have little interest in like acting and fashion. I'll still keep up with Taeyeon, Hyomin, and Eunjung, and Jessica will be my ult forever. Should any of them return as group (even lacking a full lineup) I'll whole heartedly support them but my Sone/Dai5y/Queen's days are, like my faves, over

I kinda get what you mean. I was a VIP/Sone forever and after MADE era in 2015, I knew military enlistments were close for BigBang and I just took a break too. Soon after I came back, Tiffany, Sooyoung and Seohyun left SM too so I knew SNSD was essentially done despite what SM says, so I just solo stan Taeyeon now.

And I really felt weird getting into Kpop again without having an ult lol. Earlier I used to be pretty 50/50 on boy and girl groups so I tried getting into BTS but eventually it was Twice that pulled me in again and since then I've drifted more and more into exclusive GG territory

It's complicated lol, it might take a while before they come back as a group and that will be OT4, not that I want OT5 after everything that's happened.
But TOP's image rn isn't the greatest either and mentally he might be just checked out of this idol/music career altogether so who knows. Taeyang and Daesung will definitely have activities. GD, I really don't know. It comes down to GD I guess, he was always the ult. Maybe we just get subunits and solo activities which I'll support, but won't feel the same as stanning a group.

Besides, they always go on long hiatuses and don't promote much anyway, so even if I stan them, I still need more active groups to keep me interested in Kpop.

Gutsy move, but also mood. My two ults are Big Bang and 2NE1 and i went with top 4 groups that would add f(x) and 2PM. Not only that, but my ult bias turned out to be pimp

I feel like lot of older kpop fans are now all facing the same thing cause 2gen groups are dropping like flies. Even early 3gen groups have been disbanding. I guess best would be just move on to younger groups and stan them, but at least for me its quite hard. Although I like some newer groups like Blackpink and Red Velvet, the interest is just not same.
