ADOR Releases Statement Following Recent Court Decision Regarding NewJeans' Appeal

ADOR has responded to the court’s recent decision regarding NewJeans.

Earlier on June 17, the Seoul High Court denied NewJeans’ appeal, upholding the initial decision prohibiting the NewJeans members from carrying out independent activities without ADOR’s involvement.

Following the Seoul High Court’s decision, ADOR released a new statement on June 18 regarding the court’s decision. The full statement is as follows:

Hello, this is ADOR.

Yesterday, there was a ruling in the appeals hearing that once again clearly confirmed that ADOR is the agency of NewJeans.

We express our deep gratitude to the court for its judgment.

We hope that this decision will serve as an opportunity for the members to return to where they belong as NewJeans and resume their activities.

As NewJeans approaches their third debut anniversary next month, the company will do its utmost to support them so they can achieve even greater growth and progress.

If it was just being at the schedule I'd agree but they can argue they are fulfilling their obligations while being difficult with Ador staff as cooperating with Ador staff unravels their whole argument

I'm pretty sure if dani wasn't being cooperative then ador staff will document it all and potentially use it against them

Ador will document every single interaction they have with NewJeans whether it's good or bad since they're in a court case with them and that's just a good practice if you're trying to win.

It wasn't pre-planned in the sense that there was an announcement but fans knew she'd be at her church and to show up with albums for her to sign so optics wise it's sketchy and morally it is too since I wouldn't call a church an appropriate place to have a fansign.

I think we'll know sooner or later if there's friction behind the scenes as they have to respond in some way at some point but their silence at the moment is definitely interesting.

The members' request to overturn the ruling was dismissed in April, and their subsequent appeal to the high court was also rejected. In May, the court approved ADOR’s request for indirect enforcement, ordering each member to pay 1 billion won ($733,700) to ADOR for every instance of violation.

Separately, a first-instance trial is ongoing over a suit filed by ADOR to validate the exclusivity of the group’s contracts.

The 12th Civil Affairs Department of the Seoul Western District Court will hold its third hearing on July 18 for a 500 million won damages lawsuit filed by Source Music against former CEO Min Hee-jin. The hearing date was originally scheduled for today (27th), but was postponed to next month.

They continued, “We are actively collecting evidence of serious rights violations—including defamation related to nationality or appearance, spreading false information (fake news), invasion of privacy, and malicious slurs or sexually explicit insults—across domestic and international websites and social media platforms. We are proceeding with legal steps alongside requests for prompt content removal.”

As a result, suspects charged with criminal defamation and the use of obscene communications are currently under investigation. Some anonymous users from platforms like DC Inside (known as ‘floating nicknames’) have also been identified and transferred to local police jurisdictions.

ADOR added, “We will continue to uphold a zero-tolerance policy for similar cases in the future.”

Additionally, in the criminal case, although the YouTuber received a suspended prosecution conditional on completing an educational program, ADOR filed an appeal, asserting that a heavier penalty is warranted. “We will pursue the matter to the end to ensure the YouTuber is appropriately punished,” the company stated.
