The Conjuring series is based on allegedly real hauntings. In 'Last Rites' it's the Smurl family case.

I'm going to be forced to watch this against my will and then I won't sleep for days...
Hopefully it's one of those movies that end up being funny instead. Like The Nun 2.

My nerves survived playing 'The Mortuary Assistant' alone at night, during a thunderstorm. I've never been more ready for a new Conjuring movie!

It’s no secret that this year’s upcoming sequel The Conjuring: Last Rites is said to be the final installment in the mainline franchise, with Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga playing the Warrens for the final time (allegedly). But what does that actually mean, you ask? Speaking with The Hollywood...

bloody-disgusting.com

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter this week, New Line Cinema CCO Richard Brener has indicated that what’s actually ending with Last Rites is merely “phase one” of the extended Conjuring Universe which thus far includes three core Conjuring movies along with a host of spinoffs including The Nun, The Nun 2, Annabelle, and Annabelle Comes Home.

wasn't Annabelle comes home had a similar plot

@Pirioca

Yep. A friend of the Warren's babysitter entered the artifacts room and released the spirit of Annabelle. Then she released other spirits in the room.

If they would tell the story of every artifact the Warrens collected, there would be plots for a few more Conjuring movies.
