For a couple reasons.
1. You’ll die because of the heat (867 F, 464 C) and sulphuric acid and all the other lovely life reducing perks on Venus. And that’s not great.
2. Despite being extremely hot (which many associate with tanning because no one wants to tan in polar climates), Venus has very little UV light at its surface. This is largely because of its very thick atmosphere, which prevents UV light from actually getting that far. In order to reach earth levels of UV, you’d need to be 25-37 miles/40-60 km above the surface. For reference, commercial planes fly at altitudes of 5.5-7.5 miles/9-12 km.

There’s also those mysterious black streaks in Venus’s atmosphere that don’t move despite hurricane winds and that attract a ton of uv which have been credited to being anything from weird chemicals to microbes but that’s for another day :teatea:

I have always seen Venus as what Earth could look like if we spiral out of control when it comes to global warming, well a watered down version, as we are too far from the sun to get that extreme hot. What amazes me is how many spacecrafts have been to Venus already but all destroyed in mere minutes.

Too bad I was planning to go there for my vacation soon cause Germany is too cold right now :pepecry2:

Guess I will try Mars :sanapray:

Thanks for being our intergalactic travel guide!! :uwu:
:icgyu: come to Neptune. It's Summer. A nice hot -220s C on an average day.
The South Pole has risen to -100s so it's a bit hotter down there.

The longest actually lasted just over 2 hours, not minutes :sanapray: But it’s true that thats not that long compared to something like those that landed on Mars

Well yeah, 127mins I think it was for the longest one. it's just that all spacecrafts were able to just sent all the data during the time as it was slowly getting destroyed. To me it still is mere minutes compared to something you'd land on the moon or Mars and then slowly drive around while sending data. When I was following a docu about Venus and the sounds it produces it nearly gave me anxiety lol.

The thing that baffles me time and time again is how this took place over 40 years ago with that technology of that time. The one that lasted the longest on Venus was also only suppose to last for I think around 30mins. Same with the Voyager twins, build in the 70s still running today for now, and I heard they actually could update it's software too from earth oddly enough.

With Venus it feels like research into it has basically stopped after the fall of the USSR, which is unfortunate but also not that surprising that the focus has shifted to Mars which the US had focused on. Plus the fact that Mars is more livable. But imagine if modern day technology was used more to learn more about Venus, I bet we’d learn a lot of really really interesting things.
