Dearly beloved, we are gathered here, once again, to remember and celebrate the songs that lost the 2nd Round of the KPS 2025 SOTY Tournament (hosted by our very own @velvet !)

Before we get into this, I’d like to apologise for the delay, life’s been a little hectic (yet unproductive as ever, smfh) lately.
This was Round 2 (electric boogaloo?), so the competition has really started to heat up! This led to us losing so many amazing songs along the way ☹. Let us all take a moment to remember them! -
I Do Me - KiiiKiii
It’s a really nice song and it does a good job at establishing KiiiKiii’s identity as a group – they’re not blindly doing as others do, they’re simply… doing them. As they should. Good for them, and here’s to greater success for them in the coming years!
Pookie - Fifty Fifty
This may not be the best thing since sliced bread, but it is a really very cute song! I really like the laidback vibe + the funky sound is *chef’s kiss*. Sad to see it go, it unfortunately was up against a really strong opponent :/
Twisted Paradise - Yuta
I’ll always admire artists that have a clear vision and sound. I definitely think this is the case for Yuta’s solo stuff! While I’m not the biggest fan of some specific decisions (for example, the trap beats in the verses), I think the whole “rock balladeer” thing is a very solid path to go down as a soloist, and it’s nice to see someone with a genuine passion for the genre do it!
Dancing Alone - Kiiikiii
Oooh, that synthy sound with those a-ha drums? That’s a sure-shot way to make a kpop song I’d absolutely adore for years to come. Hence, I’m just as sad to see this great song lose out, as I am happy to have discovered it through the tournament.
Style - Hearts2hearts
Style is a super cute song!! As I mentioned earlier, it’s a very classic girl group sound, one that reminds me of what it was like being 14 and being hopelessly in love w a classmate (as if that’s a very distant memory lmfao, I’m 19 now). But it’s a very nice song, and I’m honestly quite sad to see it lose so early :((((( Also I might have a slight crush on Jiwoo haha, she’s cutee
Blue - Madein S
Blue was a nice, breezy song. But I think this is as good a time as any to remember that the situation at 143 Entertainment is not good, at all. I sincerely hope the members still signed to that label are doing okay, and that they all find a way to break free of that evil, depraved company.
Beautiful Strangers - TXT
This was not really my style tbqh, but Soobin is always and forever extremely handsome.
Soda Pop - Saja Boys (KDH)
Wow, KDH losing out so early? Who’d have thought? Anyway, Soda Pop is a nice enough song on its own until you realise it’s just every single boy group bright concept averaged out into one okay-ish number. That + how overplayed it got = me getting sick of it pretty quickly. So yeah farewell my little Soda Pop, you were loved.
Nerdy - ifeye
Nerdy is a really cute song with a great chorus that’s stuck in my head. But alas, it has to leave us so soon.
Hands up - Meovv
Maybe I’ll never be the biggest fan of this sound, idk. But the chorus is fun and anthemic, and really began growing on me!
Love 2 - BB Girls
Oh no my BB Girls :((( Love 2 is a nice, solid song, I’m really sad to see it go, and to see BB Girls lose. It’s just plain unfortunate they were up against my forever loves, SHINee.
Gabriela - Katseye
HANDS OFF MY MASC LESBIAN GIRLFRIEND GABRIELA 🤬🤬‼‼ No seriously, Gabriela is a good song which unfortunately went up against a really good song (no, seriously, my takeaway from this tournament is that KPS loves the Red Velvet soloists. Well, aren’t we glad Yeri will be debuting next year?). Hopefully next year Katseye release a song that can overpower Red Velvet domination!
Blind Eyes Red - Minnie
This round has given us two losing songs, both of which are, rather surprisingly, girl group songs! Now, onto Blind Eyes Red. I love the song, visually and conceptually – very sensual, which I really like as a concept. I am not, however, the biggest fan of the slow, autotuned, trap-infused style they decided to go for. Minnie looks amazing though, we can hopefully all agree on that!
Eeny Meeny Miny Moe - Fifty Fifty
Now THIS is a song I’m really sad to see go. See, I love the synths. I love the chorus. It’s a really nice song. But, and I’m sure I’ve mentioned it before, I strongly dislike the chanted pre-chorus, I find that really grating. That said, on the whole, it’s a solid song. But ah, well, that’s life, isn’t it?

Anyway once again, thank you guys for reading this, and honouring the memories of the great music we lost along the way.
Gone from the Tournament, but not from our hearts </3
