Mixture of reasons. Like I listened to Yves most recent album because one of the main pop subreddits was really hyping it up, so I was like man, it must be really good! Even though I'm not much of a Loona stan in general. So a lot of super hyped releases, I'll listen to, like Chaeyoung's was another one. It just makes it easier to understand why people are having the conversations and reactions they're having if I've also listened to it.
Sometimes it's just what's the algorithm on Spotify has pushed like "hey this artist you've listened to in the past has released a new album" and especially if it's a work day, it's something to throw on in the background. And I only really stop if I think it's either really good and want to save it or really bad and need to change it immediately.
Also, there are just a lot of artists that I like a mild amount. Like I want them to do well and their titles are normally never worse than "that was fine" to me, but they're not a top fave or anything. So if I like their title more than "that was fine," I'll go check out their album. This is especially true with solo acts in groups, since most groups I prefer as groups, and there are only a handful where I'd be willing to necessarily support and listen to anything all of the members put out just because it's them (i-dle, for one).
Also, sometimes I'm just in the mood for something new, like I'll look at my liked songs playlist and be like "I've heard all these songs a million times before" and just be interested in what else might be out there, which balances the days that I listen to the same song 121 times.

Which is not an exaggeration, according to my Spotify stats.
That's probably more than you wanted, sorry~
