i am not going to mention any piracy websites, but i've always pirated shows and movies but i never pirated songs before. one random day, i randomly thought about pirating and downloading kpop songs into my phone and i was a very surprised on how some of these websites have amazing UIs and a lot of the songs i've been listening too. it took me a while to import most of my songs from my apple music playlist to my files but it was worth it. there's this one website i use and it has an option for "flac" which is basically a much high quality music file. i randomly downloaded snsd's "gee" into my files and when i clicked it the quality blew me out of this world. How does a pirated website have a much higher quality than actual streaming services? at this point i may cancel my apple music subscription and delete the app in favor of just posting music i could listen to. you can also just listen to your favorite song without genuine stress of wanting your favorite artist to get to the top of the charts. Believe me, it's so annoying coming across fans who tell you to "stream x song" and you can just forget about ever doing that. there also programs that can help you rip audio yourself from streaming platforms, it's a whole system.

in general, pirating is 100x better than streaming sites. there's hundreds of pirated sites out there that host mostly high quality movies and shows with preferred formats your viewing experience. In the current day, streaming is so exhausting because you have to deal with shows and movies getting taken off the platform and paying a subscription to still get ads playing in between your streams. I know spotify has ads and i remember when i had the app and i wanted to pick out a song to listen too, it wouldn't allow me to choose a song from my playlist and it seemed like i had to rely on the shuffle feature just for a song. at least for apple music it requires you to pay a subscription before you listen to any music. besides, i think you older fans have had experience with pirating kpop content. As it was before streaming music services some of the only way to listen to music was either through youtube or simply downloading it into your computer. Same goes for pirating other kpop content like variety shows and hoping to god those have subtitles embedded into them.​

I think i have downloaded a handful of songs over teh years . the last in the early -mid 10's mostly from show where teh audio was never released.

I dont really trust sites. but i have watched or downloaded some subbed shows mainly variety and survival

I used to just take songs from YouTube and use a website to convert them to mp3 files. Then I would just take the file and add it to my iTunes.

Now I just use Spotify

I guess we have to tip-toe around this subject because I'm not sure of the site rules and I don't want say anything I shouldn't in general so I will put it like this; I've never used a streaming site/app in my life and I got ~7000 songs I regularly listen to on shuffle. If you can listen to a song on the internet (YouTube as an example) it's very much possible to save the source in a way that you can listen to it whenever you feel like (even offline) without using and shady or illegal websites to download them.

It's as simple as googling it, the only struggle I have is finding ways of listening to it in 128kbs because anything higher drastically increases file size without improving audio quality.

I exclusively listen to music on the regular version of Youtube, and not any other platforms (not even YouTube Music). It's free, simple, and works for me. If a song gets taken down or removed by an artist (which is very rare, but does happen, such as the English version of Bomb by Alexa), more often than not, fans have uploaded a version of it I can still listen to. Plus, I have a lot of flexibility is regards to listening to the official audio, dance practice, music video, lyric video, performance video, ect. If piracy works for others, then that is great, I just never felt the need to resort to it personally, or even check it out due to curiosity. It seems complex and confusing to navigate, whereas the YouTube layout is simple and familiar to me, so I just do that. It also makes it easier to switch between listening to a K-Pop song to watching a completely different video in seconds, without needing to switch apps or different tabs.

yeah sometimes for me pirating shows and movies gets annoying because if a certain show isn't on there or if it's in poor quality i get so annoyed and i have to look for more just to get a decently looking version of a show. i also think piracy is cool because it allows you download shows and music into your files. i use youtube 99% of the time to watch my favorite youtubers and stuff and also for song recommendations so it does come in handy

The only problem with using YouTube directly is the ads, and recently if you use an ad-blocker it will glitch out a lot. It makes it almost impossible for me to throw on a playlist in the background even though I would like to support artists with my streams.

As much as I do use YouTube and like it for a lot of reasons, I will agree that all the ads absolutely do suck. Especially when it won't let you skip the ad.

I usually watch my evening videos in bed on my PS4 so I'm without and ad-blocker and it's sooo annoying! I seriously admire the patience of people who don't use ad-blockers in their day-to-day. My PS4 is on the verge of dying so I'm thinking of buying a cheap laptop just for evening YouTube that I can connect to the TV and use an ad-blocker on.

I think YouTube is trying really hard to get you to buy 'premium', sometimes the "Experiencing interuptions?" pop-ups are showing like taunts, lmao, like they know they are trying to annoy you into paying them. That's why I'd stop using the site over giving them a dime.

Oh yeah, I refuse to spend a cent on YouTube either. I don't use ad blockers either. It annoys me, but I've grown numb to the pain by now, so it's more of a constant but dull irritation instead of a full blown rage each time I get double, unskippable ads.
