currently in the middle of making a letterboxd list ranking 2026 movies so i'm looking for anything to watch no matter how good or bad it might be lol but the thread isn't limited to 2026 releases only and you can answer with just any movie you've watched this year

my pick for the best one so far has to be the invite. easily the most fun i've had in a movie theater this year, the dialogues were hilarious and everyone really acted their asses off on that set. especially olivia like in a fair and just world she would be an academy award contender :hcnod:

the worst one? this horror-comedy-action-thriller-whatever-that-was called they will kill you. i saw this one on a whim because i have this card that lets me watch an unlimited amount of movies a month for a price of two screenings and in march i barely watched anything so i chose whatever just to go. and let me tell you i'll never do that again because that movie was a whole lot of bullshit. it was advertised as a horror of some kind but it actually ended up being some unfunny action flick with subpar acting and a script that sounds as if it was written by an edgy 12 year old. it was the closest i've ever been to walking out of a movie, i only stayed because i believed it might get better at one point. it didn't :wimwim:

what about you :sippinthetea:

Best one has to be The Odyssey hands down. I still think about it. I like media that you can turn over and over in your mind and it still holds up.

That's actually the only one I've seen in the theaters. I was going to go see Supergirl, but then the reviews came out, and given how negative they were and how expensive theaters are, I decided to pass. I should watch it on HBO Max and see if that was a good decision or if I'll be sad I missed the big screen. I am interested in seeing Clayface later this year.

On streaming, I've mostly watched KPDH five hundred times (familiar things make good background noise) and been getting current on shows, so not much help there. :lisalaugh:

I enjoyed watching 'Unhinged' recently (except for the cliche ending), it's a revenge fantasy so maybe I'm unhinged too but I found it really satisfying.

I haven't watched many movies this year so nothing stood out as really bad but last year I saw Captain America: Brave New World which was complete dogwater.

Best: Hokum. A classic haunted house story, mixed with Irish folklore.

Worst: Return To Silent Hill. Maybe I'm overcritical as a die-hard fan of the source material (and after watching Christophe Gans' masterpiece 'Brotherhood of the Wolf' five times). But I expected much more from this director.

Reminders of Him was pretty good. It got a little emotional in the middle of it, but other than that - great acting, great storyline, and not to mention an extremely hot male lead!

You Are the Apple of my Eye is what I'll put for worst. I mean, it wasn't BAD bad per se - Dahyun is actually a superb actress, and so was her acting partner, whose name escapes me - but just don't watch if you expect a happy ending. Not that the ending was sad... it just wasn't the ending you'd hope for in a romance.

oh this reminded me that i still haven't seen the odyssey :we_kpopsourcing: i'll probably wait to watch it at home and then regret not doing so in theaters like i always do

same with me and supergirl, i'm not into superhero movies at all but i thought the trailer was very cute with the relationship between the girl and the dog and her willing to do anything to save him but they pulled it out of theaters after like two weeks and i haven't caught it on streaming yet. maybe will do so when i'm incredibly bored one day.

at least by watching what you already know you can avoid being disappointed :haylul: what shows are you into these days?

unhinged as in the 2020 movie starring russell crowe? i remember seeing it in theaters before they closed them due to the pandemic. i thought it was decent but some things i just didn't get because i don't drive :haylul: really surprised to hear about this one here

agreed on captain america. went to see it with a friend just to socialise and barely remembered anything from that movie as i left. just a whole bunch of nothing.

I hate to agree because I'm such a big fan of Dahyun but the ending was anti-climactic and I don't remember much of the story at all. It was however as you said - no fault of Dahyun's, even though personally I felt her acting was lacking a bit. I'm okay admitting that because it was her debut and she has very noticibly improved since then and in the most recent thing I saw of hers (Love Me) her acting was flawless.

Yes, that one! I'm often late since I don't watch movies often and only caught on to this one because of an IG reel, lol. I think many of us sometimes wish we could teach rude strangers a lesson (even if we don't want to take it quite as far) so I found it more satisfying than well-written and of course -- Russel Crowe is a superb actor and always a pleasure to watch.

My only gripe was (ending spoiler); that I could call it at the start of the movie that it was going to end with the main character killing him while dropping a tacky one-liner and that's exactly what happened. They could at least have skipped the line and still had her win and the ending would go from tacky and disappointing to just unoriginal.
