what was the best and the worst movie you've seen this year? (14 Viewers)

currently in the middle of making a letterboxd list ranking 2026 movies so i'm looking for anything to watch no matter how good or bad it might be lol but the thread isn't limited to 2026 releases only and you can answer with just any movie you've watched this year

my pick for the best one so far has to be the invite. easily the most fun i've had in a movie theater this year, the dialogues were hilarious and everyone really acted their asses off on that set. especially olivia like in a fair and just world she would be an academy award contender

the worst one? this horror-comedy-action-thriller-whatever-that-was called they will kill you. i saw this one on a whim because i have this card that lets me watch an unlimited amount of movies a month for a price of two screenings and in march i barely watched anything so i chose whatever just to go. and let me tell you i'll never do that again because that movie was a whole lot of bullshit. it was advertised as a horror of some kind but it actually ended up being some unfunny action flick with subpar acting and a script that sounds as if it was written by an edgy 12 year old. it was the closest i've ever been to walking out of a movie, i only stayed because i believed it might get better at one point. it didn't

Best one has to be The Odyssey hands down. I still think about it. I like media that you can turn over and over in your mind and it still holds up.

That's actually the only one I've seen in the theaters. I was going to go see Supergirl, but then the reviews came out, and given how negative they were and how expensive theaters are, I decided to pass. I should watch it on HBO Max and see if that was a good decision or if I'll be sad I missed the big screen. I am interested in seeing Clayface later this year.

On streaming, I've mostly watched KPDH five hundred times (familiar things make good background noise) and been getting current on shows, so not much help there.

I enjoyed watching 'Unhinged' recently (except for the cliche ending), it's a revenge fantasy so maybe I'm unhinged too but I found it really satisfying.

I haven't watched many movies this year so nothing stood out as really bad but last year I saw Captain America: Brave New World which was complete dogwater.
