My mother chose my name according to an American actress who was playing in a series at the end of the 80s and the beginning of the 90s.

Wow ! It’s really particular. My stepmother ended up with a different name than planned because her father changed her name at the last moment when he took care of the papers for her birth and he waits for several days before telling it to his wife.

If I ended up being a boy not a girl I would have strangled my father at some point. Granted if he herd right, a girl, he would have named me Michael Scott after his dead brother. But still Michael is better then naming a boy after TWO months of the year. Remember what I said about being right. He wanted to make certain he got the right month cause he forgot.

Mine is religious, but what they didn't know is that the lady I'm named after's name came from the Arabic word for "graciousness", Maya.

Now that I am older yes, but when I was in school-no. Took me to get the humor in my name to finally stop being so resentful.

My dad side of the family has a M tradition, so my dad's name and his siblings all begin with M.
My dad suggested Morgan, my mother was like eurgh no... Melissa is better.
I suppose it is but friends and family barely use my name, just Mel or nicknames.

My grandmother said to my mum that if she has a girl, call her Kelly. I really like my name. It makes me feel more connected to her too because although I have never met her (sadly she passed away before I was born), I was still able receive my name from her. :’)

From my point of view it’s a beautiful name but I guess it’s because I can’t see why it’s outdated.
