Why are some BTS stans so intense? (1 Viewer)

I'm not one to judge stans and their love for their fave, but with some BTS stans they're so intense with it. I don't even think One Direction had this type of stan base when they debuted.

Are stans of girl groups like this too? I've never been a full time stan of Kpop. Views to me in the M/V's don't matter to me I just listen to the title tracks and the b-sides. I also have a bias like everyone else. But I've never been a full-time Kpop stan.

Can someone explain it to me? All of the girl group stans I've met have all been pretty chill.

i know but it seems like some BTS stans take the fore front in the media. I very seldom hear about Blinks or Once's in the media

Well. All fans want to express only the best about their favourites. It just so happens that ARMY is internationally the biggest and therefore a sample taken would certainly include someone crazy. Every fandom has a member like that.

OneDirection was chased yes, it was a mania at some point, but standing worked differently back then, you had no access to sensitive information like you do now,n through sasaengs.

It's not just BTS. There's plenty of other fandoms that can be intense. But since we're talking about BTS here, I guess it's because some of their fans take a lot, or even too much, pride in them. Some of them are willing to stream the same song over and over again for hours, which is a waste of time in my opinion. It's just how a lot of them are. They care more about charting, awards, streaming, and even bashing other groups for no good reason. Same thing can be said about some Blinks and Onces. This is how some fans are regardless of the group.

All successful groups have these kinda stans but armys are an extra special breed of unbearable because there are so many of them. I'm hoping that they either grow up or mellow out when BTS starts to decline like exo-ls did. Neither look like they'll be happening anytime soon

I think there is multiple factor for it, but one of them defensiviness- some armys feel like BTS and army is unfairly attacked all the time so they have strong defensive reaction to it which only brings more discontent between armys and non-armys. There is also some that are kinda anti-kpop or at least anti-multifandom and might even attack armys that are multifandom, i think the fandom culture has just grown to that way and it's also somewhat due to the defensiviness. The anti-kpopness is bit hard to relate to, and makes me want to avoid the fandom.

Most armys that are also multifandom are chill though.

First of all ARMY is a big fandom so ofc there are some desperate fans. Every fandom has them, ARMY just has more because the fandom itself is bigger. Also, I know some ARMY are kinda individualists since some other fandoms teamed for Billboard or other awards (i don’t remember exactly what awards, but it was something western). They started to vote for other artists so BTS won’t get those awards. I remember it was an issue back then. Especially when nowadays when people care more about awards, some fans tend to act a bit aggressive

Some are just succsess stans, they view their faves achievements as their own, their whole confidence relies on their faves, so they are more then defensive, if you criticize their faves it's like you criticize them. BTS is currently a wall, but the boys still stay humble, but their fame went into some of their fans head instead and now they think they are superior to everyone and everything.
But they are actually just a source of money like every other fandom as well.

theyre a pretty big fandom, all the nice ones get drowned about by the loud and obnoxious ones, same thing with every fandom tbh. it's just more prevalent with armys because of how huge their fanbase is.
