As for my 1000th thread it just had to be about A.C.E as some others have told me as well in my thread about asking what to do when I reach 1000 threads and being the first user on KS to achieve that.
I've first thought about 101 reasons to stan A.C.E, but even for someone like me 101 is A LOT. So I chose the next best thing, 50 Shades ofGreyA.C.E.
Just not as explicit as the original lol
These 50 points consist of many different things, be it more specific or general stuff, I've tried to fill up the list with the best thing.
1. A.C.E is an abbreviation for Adventure Calling Emotion, which is definitely one of the better ones in K-Pop, and do make sense as well.
2. A.C.E stand true to their name, all 5 of their members are aces in whatever they do.
3. Put together any members and you'll get a perfect, functional sub unit, everyone fits with everyone.
4. They were also supposed to debut as 7, however the other 2 didn't make it at the end, one of them ended up being a model, the other one still produces music.
5. A.C.E were originally to debut with "Do It Like Me" from their now b-side on the Under Cover album.
6. Instead A.C.E took the risk to debut with a genre that hasn't been touched much in K-Pop, namely Hardstyle with "Cactus".
7. Adding to this risky debut, they performed in their iconic "hot pants" look, which K-Netz reacted to with "Why are they performing in their underwear" for most cases.
8. However they addressed the backlash they've gotten and said while they were uncomfortable at the beginning, they've gotten used to them and since it brought attention to them it was okay for them since they wanted to get noticed no matter what.
9. Before they debuted, for at least a whole year they were a rather well-known busking group due to their many covers of EXO, BTS, Blackpink and many many more.
10. Instead of having intern competition with other trainees to save a debut spot, A.C.E had the opportunity to gain experience performing in front of different audiences.
11. Counting to those are their many collaborations with 1MILLION, which you all are probably aware of.
12. Don't Wanna Know (performed on The Unit by Chan & Jun) | Sing (performed on 1MILLION's tour) | Apeshit, but not only did they dance with them, 1MILLION was so nice to let A.C.E use their training room since they haven't had a set room for them at the beginning, which is why their Cactus Dance Practice is in their studio.
13. Additionally Lia Kim and Koosung Jun were the choreographers for Cactus, Koosung Jung also made the Callin' Choreography with A.C.E's help.
14. Both Cactus and Callin' albums are limited edition, meaning only 1000 copies of each exist in the entire world, if you want to buy one you have to pay a hefty price of around 300€+ in case someone decides to sell it.
15.To get back to their abbreviation, A.C.E and Beat Interactive wanted to do a trilogy with it. Which they released 2/3 yet. Adventure.0(their stage intro)+Cactus and Callin'.
16. Why not the third one, Emotions yet? Well for one after Callin' promotions ended they were all busy on the 2 survival programs, The Unit and MixNine.
17. A.C.E members all ranked within the Top 21 for The Unit and MixNine, with 3 members making it into the final groups, Chan in UNB, Byeongkwan & Donghun in MixNine.
18. However as you all know, ScamNine didn't end up debuting the group which lead to Chan being the only one, meaning he wouldn't be able to promote with A.C.E due to the contract from The Unit.
19. Fast forward a bit to A.C.E releasing 'Take Me Higher', the album without Chan, so OT4. And UNB's release of Only One & Feeling.
20. With Take Me Higher, A.C.E was able to show a totally different side, including the b-sides from the album Adventure In Wonderland.
21. They also gained quite the interest due to their styling again, this time not as controversial since it was mostly Crop Tops and really bright and fun colors, as well as more "girly" jewelry such as flowery earrings and rings.
22. While A.C.E OT4 was promoting TMH, Chan was busy being the main vocal of UNB, while UNB was somewhat criticized for having no main vocal, Chan pretty much threw all those comments in the trash after their debut.
23.Fast forward a few months full of TMH promotions and UNB releasing their comeback "Black Heart", towards the end of UNB, Chan ended up performing Take Me Higher with A.C.E, which was the first public OT5 performance again after such a long time.
24. When UNB disbanded, A.C.E went on quite the lengthy tour schedule, almost around 3-4 months they were touring.
24. So we didn't really have any other OT5 things happening until 1.5 years later, when "Under Cover" happened and yet again went more or less viral for their styling but also because the song was really well received by fans and non fans.
25. They assured us that "Emotions" is coming, but they wanted it to be something really special so wile working on Emotions, they came back with Under Cover in the mean time, as well as their Japanese Debut coming up on the 29th this month.
So the first half should've filled up their career pretty well, I'm going to do more around their personality and talent with the rest.
26. You might think that A.C.E's styling happens for the sake of it being fashion or as a concept, but it is them. Their fluidity, being neither too masculine or feminine but playing with both sides extremely well is what makes them stand out from other groups to me.
27. They all have very distinct voices, it'll be easy to tell who is who which is a plus in my book, I love diversity. And especially Jun's vocals are one of the most unique ones in K-Pop.
28. They all have very unique and different visuals, visuals are different for everyone and A.C.E should have something for everyone if you are a visual stan.
29. A.C.E are K-Pop's Cover Kings. There isn't anyone who uploads as many and high quality (both audio & video as well as vocals and dance) covers of a vast variety of songs, showing they can do pretty much anything, which reflects in their name again.
30. Blackpink's Stay and PWF | Forever Young & 4xD, KARD's Don't Recall, BTS's Fake Love and DNA | BS&T, I need you and Dope, EXO's Ko Ko Bop and Call Me Baby | Growl & Monster, Taeyang's Ringa Linga/Wedding Dress/Where you at, NCT's Fire Truck and 7th Sense, RV's+Sunmi+Twice Dumb Dumb-Gashina-Signal just to name a few covers you should check out!
31. Taking it back to the "put anyone together" point, Byeongkwan and Wow make a dangerous team of dancers - Freestyle Byeongkwan | Freestyle Wow | Billie Eilish Freestyle, Duo Choreo One + Two, just as well as Jun does with either, Choreo with BK, Black and Blue with Wow.
32. But not only on the dancing department, as well in the vocal department, Donghun with Chan and Wow are amazing, Donghun + Chan One + Two, with Wow.
33. These are just a few examples of different combinations, even in OT5 performances and covers they are all given different opportunities to show their skills, 5SOS Youngblood Cover, Jessie J Flashlight Cover, Kenshi Yonezu Lemon Cover, Chen Xiaochun Exclusive Memory Cover (multi-lingual kings ftw).
34. They are all currently working on solo songs, possibly for their Emotions album, produced and written by themselves.
35. They released a English Version of Cactus as well.
So, enough of covers and music, let's move onto their personalities!
36. Jun is A.C.E's leader and he is great at his job! What always sticks with me thinking about Jun is, he said that he doesn't mind being fun made of by the other members as long as he can put a smile on their faces by that, however if anyone is making fun of his members he's gonna fight you!
37. Jun in general is one of the most talented Idols I've ever seen, he has a amazing voice, sick dancing skills, he can act well, and despite all of my believes he can even rap.
38. Jun had quite a emotional ride till debut, almost debuted about 3 times, lost his sister and mother pre-debut, and for his Dad to support him instead of forcing him to continue their family business is making my heart weak every time thinking about it.
39. Jun also performed on ICSYV, and was often told he looks and sounds like a younger Kangta.
40. Byeongkwan and Chan were both previously JYP trainees.
41. While being at JYP, Chan was pretty far away from home and so Byeongkwan's parents let him stay at their house. Chan gained a second set of parents to take care of him because of it.
42. Chan is probably the hypest in A.C.E. He never loses any energy.
43. Byeongkwan and Chan are an amazing pair as well, they've went through the whole JYP process and leaving them together and it's easy to see their bond.
44. Byeongkwan expressed in the past how he didn't like his looks, however every time A.C.E immediately reassured him to give him more confidence altho he is showing enough of that in hhis performances.
45. Wow was a previous YG trainee, so him being on MixNine I thought YG would recognize him, but nope he didn't.
46. However Wow wasn't that much in the spotlight in the first few episodes of the show. One day tho, they finally showed how he created one of MixNine's most iconic "18+" performances and thus he shot up around 50 places after the episode aired.
47. Despite Wow going viral for his 18+ choreo, he is a total sweetheart and most of the time the most shy member of A.C.E.
48. Donghun previously was on Superstar K5 and ICSYV as well, he even made it to the end and performed together with GOT7, impressing JB with his highnote.
49. Donghun is probably the one who cuddles the most. Whenever he has the chance he likes to lay his head on someone, or put his arm around someone, he's just giving a lot of love and wants a lot of love as well.
50. Their CEO is Kim Hyeim, who worked for a big company in the past but wanted to open her own. I don't know how she gathered these 5 boys together but whatever magic she used, she picked the perfect 5 to be together in a group. While most of the time K-Pop idols might pretend to be someone else in front of a camera, I feel that A.C.E are who they show, 5 guys with a real bond. They've been through so much together (coughScamNinecough amongst other things) from pre-debut till now that it actually looks and feels like a genuine friendship between 5 guys who want to achieve their dreams.
So that concludes my 1000th thread. I doubt most of you will really read through all 50 points or look at any of the links I posted but honoring my 1000th post to A.C.E felt good.
