It seems like many YG trainees are trying to leave the label in the midst of the heavy scandals surrounding it.

Music industry insiders revealed on August 26th that many YG trainees are currently trying to negotiate contracts with other labels to further their careers. These trainees also reportedly include members of group Treasure13 that were chosen through the reality show 'YG Treasure Box'. One insider stated that "there are trainees who have signed with new labels and others that are in the midst of signing."

Trainee contracts are different per label, but for the most part, the contracts are signed on a per year basis, which allows trainees to leave if they want to. However, it seems like the label is suffering as many trainees are seeking to leave given the numerous scandals surrounding the company. It seems like the delay of Treasure13's debut has also contributed to trainees leaving.

YG Entertainment Trainees Reportedly Looking To Move To New Agencies

It’s reported that YG Entertainment trainees, including some who appeared on “Treasure Box” and “Produce X 101,” have signed with new agencies or are aiming to do so.

On August 26, the outlet EDaily reported that according to sources in the industry, YG trainees aiming to be singers are currently in discussion with other agencies about potentially transferring from YG. It’s reported that some of them are trainees who appeared on YG’s survival show “Treasure Box,” which chose the 13 members of TREASURE 13 that were originally slated to debut in early July 2019, as well as Mnet’s “Produce X 101.”

A source stated, “There are currently people who have left YG and signed contracts with new agencies, as well as trainees who are in the final stages of agreements about their contracts.”

EDaily reports that while each agency has a different system for contracts, most trainees are signed on for the relatively short period of a year. It’s common for trainees to move to another agency after their contract period runs out. However, as the agency in this case is YG Entertainment, there are many who state that this case is indicative of YG’s current situation.

It’s reported that many in the music industry regard the postponement of TREASURE 13’s debut as related to the agency’s current situation as it deals with multiple controversies. Representatives said, “The postponement of TREASURE 13’s debut has led to a sense of loss for the trainees who have to wait for opportunities after that, and this is leading to transfers to other agencies.”

In late July, it was announced that plans for TREASURE 13’s debut have been postponed after YG founder Yang Hyun Suk, who was in charge of the group’s debut project, stepped down from his role at the agency in June. Soon after his departure, it was reported that some of the actors under YG Entertainment were seeking to terminate their contracts with the agency due to its reputation following several controversies, particularly those related to drug use among its artists.​

I watched every episode of the show and tapped the hearts for my faves of V Live everyday, although I'm disappointed the the planned lineup might not debut. I'd rather they get out while they still can because the group as is was never gonna reach their full potential in this climate. They had everything working against them and I just hope that they all get the chance to debut again sooner rather than later...

It was expected...and at this point I didn't really believe that the group is debuting any time soon. Good that a lot of them are kinda young, so they can find another agency

I wonder if Block B's label is looking to debut a junior boy group. I don't care for Zico but Yoshinori would probably be ecstatic if Zico produced his debut team's material.

I feel the worst for Lee Hi. I think she has the longest contract. Since contract laws changed, I think a lawyer could probably negotiate out of it in a couple of years.

Aren't ATEEZ under Block B's label, they're still rookies so I don't know whether they'd debut a new group any time soon... I still think Cube is the best bet, they have a history of recruiting from the Big 3 plus they have a new boy group on the way. Other than that, there's bound to be an influx of new boy groups with Produce X 101 trainees maybe, they can get into one of those...

I just read the Soompi translation of the EDaily article and it seems they were referring to the Treasure Box trainees who did not make it into T13 not T13 members (the remaining Group C members). But I wouldn't be surprised i f T13 members jumped ship either.

If this is true, is actually the best thing they could do given the circumstances. YGE is at its worst moment rn, if it was already difficult to be a trainee under a normal envionment imagine now, with all that mess.

All those sleepless nights and worries while watching Treasure Box . At least it was fun in the official thread. RIP Treasure 13, it was too good to be true. Seunghun and Byounggon are the only true winners out of this mess as of today!
