If TWICE released Umpha Umpha - what would the reception be? (3 Viewers)

Honestly I normally stay out of KPop stan wars, and I try to remain neutral but I never understood how if TWICE released a song like Umpha Umpha they get called out for being childish and one trick pony. But Red Velvet does it and it's YASSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! GAGA YOU LOOK SO GOOD

i get where you're coming from but its the same reason why fancy and breakthrough are hyped so much. it is different from what people expect from twice. i wouldn't say childish and one trick pony tho, just similar. i feel like people only think there's two types of concepts anyway, hot girl and cute girl. weird.

i would love to hear twice singing umpah umpah. would love sana doing joy's highnote tho it would probably go to jihyo/nayeon/jungyeon

what i'm saying is if red velvet didn't do velvet concepts in between red ones they'd also have fans screaming about how they want girl crush concepts.

Red Velvet are complimented so much because of their recent regression of their music. Zimzalabim and RBB were absolute disasters so I'm sure everyone's expectations for RV have lowered greatly

There really isn't anything special or praise worthy about it, Red Velvet just set the bar pretty low with their last few comebacks. It was forgettable and I still haven't bothered to listen to the rest of the album

I'd take Twice cute concepts over Red Velvet's. They've been kinda childish ever since Rookie (sans RF)

I know Umpah Umpah is nowhere close to RV's best stuff but I agree, after RBB and Zimzalabim (and Power Up too but people like it too), it feels like a breath of fresh air. Maybe a lot of people also see it as a sign of RV righting their ship. Relief that the worst is over, hope that more good things are coming.

Umpah Umpah needs vocal skill that TWICE doesn't have. Lots of harmonizing is done in the chorus and the whole disco vibe is something TWICE wouldn't be able to pull off. TWICE is good at what they do, it should stay that way.

UU is no more childish than any brite concept. Its just some folks i fans especially are hung up on the oompah oompah sound alike which is willy wonka thus childish.

At the end of the day the brand most often sells much more than the song.

SM has managed to turn RV from a trusted group to a shell of what they could have been.

They will have long and successful careers, but will never be dominant that ship has sailed. You cannot keep fracturing your fan base and remain at the same success level very often. BB was just successful enough to let the AnR Frankenstein's loose and they blew up the brand.

I am more interested to see what happens with akmu, bol4 and twices next songs. I think Kpop has been seriously damaged especially on Melon while the first 2 are only semi kpop it will be interesting.

Because ppl can't criticize red velvet because red velvet already show so much different faces that ppl now that they are just trying a new concept
Plus it's a summer song ppl expect childhish, fresh, simple song in summer that's why ppl are not criticize for this type of song if they released it in the summer
Girl's day also have this "childish cute" song with darling but ppl don't care because it's what people want in summer something cute, fresh, simple

While in contrary twice is stick to this image the entire year and not just during summer
And even if they release break something they are still consider as a one dimension gg

And uu was not more childish than what twice used us to hear for the past 3 years with likey, signal, etc...
And twice didn't win their childish image because of one song but because of 3 year of cute song
Rv are not releasing the same cute stuff for the 3 past years

Because yes it's not one song who will change your image
And even with them "experiencing" more mature concept it was still very childish musically with always this poppy instru, high pitch vocal who is suppose to be cute etc....
They only wear black and call it a more mature concept
