I mean what is the difference between a stan and a casual fan for you?
When do you call yourself a stan? When you support your group financially (buying their music, merch etc), or when you just simple enjoy, maybe stream their music?

@SteviSone answer in the other thread, made me curious.

:llama_ramen:

Maybe this kind of thread was already made a thousand times tho :wimwim:

I stan too many groups LOL
More seriously, I call myself a fan when I stream a lot their music and buy their albums (I didn't bought albums for all of them yet)
I consider myself as a good stan for many groups but unfortunately I didn't buy albums for all my favorite bands ...
(Dreamcatcher, Red Velvet, GFRIEND, DIA, SONAMOO, Monsta X and INFINITE)

I'm casual fan if i simply like the music, but i don't keep really up with members and aren't that interested of them. Stanning to me is caring about group beyond just checking their music, keeping up how members are doing, looking stuff from them outside of mv's and title songs and so on.

Pretty sure it has been either here or in that other forum, I might sure I read the question here or there before which is why I wanted to understand wat the other posters in ur thread meant when they stan, pretty sure most of them dint mean casual fan from their responses. I mean I'm a casual fan of those groups I mentioned n I mean i listen/like/watch/learn as much as I can even if I don't spend any money on the groups/artists I stan/bias, it's a level of interest I hv in them (or how deep I've gotten into that artist/group n can't get out) that defines (to me) whether I stan (I think). I'm still not sure how I differentiate my liking gfriend n still not stanning them vs how I got into SNSD n stanning them from mid-2018. Maybe cos I hvnt blogged abt Gfriend as I did abt SNSD, even tho I hvnt updated once I've joined deeper into kpop forums:

Maybe after I start memorizing Gfriend's song lyrics I'll consider I stan them. (N knowing which songs are from which era/mini -full albums.) :umwhat:

I have to enjoy their music to be a stan—a good portion of their discography, around 60–80%. A bonus is if I appreciate at least one of their talents like vocals, rap, or production.

If I like a decent amount (40–50%) but they are too inconsistent, then I casually follow them and hope they impress me in the future.

I rarely watch varieties so I can't really use that to determine whether I stan a group or not. However, a funny group is always welcome (Monsta X).

I Lost interest in updating it after two posts only. (1) it was a way to organize my thots/SNSD discography w/out going to Wikipedia, mostly copied from there tho. [also idk if I found kprofiles yet at that time, so...]
(2) practice/training creating a wordpress/website which I sucked at so stopped.
Also C) I prefer coming to forums sns where I get responses to my posts n read interesting posts by you n other users. (D) nobody commented except spammer [which I now take to mean few ppl interested in blogs abt SNSD, at the time I dint care/dint realise n wasn't bothered bcos OH!GG was debuting/already debuted [id read abt their filming reality show] so I was really pumped to start a blog then N (e) too much hassle to repeatedly delete spam.

Maybe someday I'll try to update/create a new blog/website but not yet.

Not so long ago I had a wider definition of stanning but nowadays I am more picky about who I stan and why.

I need to love at least 90 % of my faves discography and being deeply interested into them. I also buy the albums now since I can but in the past I couldn’t afford it.

I am picky as well but even I stan some groups, sometimes their albums are hard to find in Switzerland 😵😩

I will consider myself as a fan when their music is stuck on my head as well xD DURING MORE THAN ONE DAY
Question is stan, not fan. sorry misread the op/title. Mianhae.
I'm a casual fan of RV, Twice. Bigger fan of Gfriend, BP. Listened to GIDLE, Itzy (not by choice, Spotify, MTV or Korean channel I watch on cable tv, YouTube), Cherry bullet n maybe a few others I've watched n won't change channel/skip/fast forward. I don't stan them.

I found this thread from forever ago here:

by your definition , who do you stan now?
N who did you stan before by ur old definition? Just curious abt wat changed. (See also @kuro definition in thread I linked to. I din't really notice then but it's weird to stan a group without liking their music right? But still ok since u stan them.) I liked @RandAlThor 's post n thread he linked, the definition n explanation.

I only start stanning a group until I know all the members names, I've watched enough videos to have a grasp of their personalities and know/like most of the discography. Being a fan, for me, means regularly listening to their music/b-sides but not knowing all the members' names apart from a few or any fandom jokes.

More often than not, I actually listen to more songs by groups that I am a fan of than groups I actually stan because there are just so many groups that I'm a fan of. The only exception is when my ult groups release something.

By my new definition I would say that I stan BTS, Mamamoo and Red Velvet for sure.

I am more a casual fan of EXO, Apink, Winner, Dreamcatcher, G-idle, Cherry Bullet, SNSD, April, Blackpink and Twice. EXO and Apink used to be my ultis though but I lost interest.

I've actually also paused re-listening (constantly) to my stans/biases somewat bcos I'm getting more into Gfriend/other groups. Could just be process of discovering new stan group but I dint stop stanning/biasing anyone, just waiting for new music from my stan/biases n enjoying others music for now.
