Focusing on the US market regardless of their controversies is a flop ideaas no kpop group is going to be truly big in the US market. It's better to focus on Korea and if you do well you'll get articles from US sites hyping you up without doing anything.

what controversies, missing so much lately :pepecry1:ohh one moment, Queendom talk right.. meh :llama_tea:llama_twerk

actually i dont like it, same goes for BP, i dont like the idea of "focusing on US market".. :gyuripout:
Tbh BP's promos in the US could've been better if they had more music to work with, YG definitely overplayed their hand with them. About G-idle their "controversies" aren't the real issue, they don't have a stable position in Korea despite their popularity. Other rookies are selling better and their charting is quite unpredictable, so I don't think they should start promos in any other country yet.

Even without the "controversies" I think that...they would not do well outside of the regular k-pop fans, honestly. Besides, what I notice around other American forums since the BTS boom and the trolling behaviors of posting* k-pop fancams and the "Stan Loona" debacle (including posting it under death notifications....................................................) is that disdain for K-Pop and their fans has definitely increased on these internet streets. Plus, I'm just saying, on an urban forum I frequent, they've been dragging Soyeon to hell and back over the "ethnic hip" comment, so.

I'd say the same thing about many other K-Pop artists, especially females, trying to go mainstream in America, especially if their focus is the urban hip-hop, R&B scene. But you know, if you hit the right audience, none of the above really matters. But as of now, I don't think they have the fandom power to come in hard.

I wouldn't say (G)I-dles charting is unpredictable, it sharply declined after Hann which already did a little worse than Latata but that wasn't a huge deal.

1 hit a top group does not make and (G)I-dle are slipping from even being high tier at this rate.

this is really not a good idea. They barely started. The girls should focus on korea first.

Kpop companies are most certainly going for an international approach, trying to get their music and name everywhere which is a needed move at this point.

However groups that try to focus on the US (or even overly on Japan) usually decline. Gidle should begin to aim more internationally but need to focus on the Kpop market, that is the niche again and is what will bring attention, not fading into the American music scene.

G-idle is doing well and are popular rookies but in S.K their songs need more stability and consistent high charting that they can achieve.

Also what "controversies" are happening? The so called culture appropriation stuff coming from certain ideological camps on Twitter...thats not a real scandal. However if Cube wants to become known in the US they have to understand the historical racial/ethnic realities in the USA and the West that led people to develop this notation and to avoid it.(though some ppl even consider non-blacks doing hip hop "cultural appropriation" but its about PR not debating the idea).

I really think they should focus on pop or hip pop NOT the urban scene. As a black American I can tell you African-Americans and other black ppl are very sensitive about other ethnicities/races doing hip hop, especially if they aren't seen as "authentic" or are woman. Cube needs to avoid this and just do like BTS/BlackPink and associate with the somewhat racially neutral pop scene. Don't try to navigate the murky and complicated American race relations scene..And I love Soyeon but wth is that..She can't say that, especially when blacks already believe Asiana are racist towards us.

Hell, even as a Caribbean-American, some African-Americans don't like us, Africans and Afro-Latinos doing hip hop but because we are seen as "just black" the cultural differences are ignored.

I feel like the headline's a bit misleading. They've partnered with a US based PR firm (which also has an office in SK), but it just seems like it'll add a few promotional opportunities in the US, maybe like some interviews or something. It doesn't seem like they're just gonna abandon Korea and try to establish themselves in the US. Something along the scale of the Japan debut. Some interviews and articles, maybe a fanmeeting, but not a full on push.

What I will say is this: I would hope that having a US based PR team - which also has a presence in Korea and has staff who understand both the Korean and international k-pop scene - working with the girls/Cube means that communication about some of these issues that international fans tend to be more aware of/sensitive to, will actually lead to an acknowledgment of international fans' concerns surrounding the recent Queendom debacle.
