The name was a bit worrisome (since it sounded experimental again) but the song actually sounds really good so far. It sounds very Red Velvet.

And I always wondered how SM personally picked the songs and this video showed it. Interesting... although it really makes me wonder what goes on in his head when he picks some songs lol.

I would be curious to see how SM chooses RV titles for theirs songs. Because after Zimzalabim and Umpah Umpah, Boom Boom Chica is even worse.

I don’t mind it though If the song is good.

i think he lets A and R pick some because they took the bullet for OOTN. He gets involved for specific tracks. Red flavor evidently he micro managed down to dance moves.
I would be stunned if he picked rbb for example. Its a club song not a listening song . Zim is a tiny bit club with that dance break that they have had hanging around since IGAB era.

zim is strange but folks like abracadabra as a song name, same concept different languages. UU is a Korean term and that songs performance in Korea really puzzles me. Pretty much a perfect summer fun song. I guess year of the ost ballad was not buying it.

I think that Umpah Umpah didn’t do well because Korea and people in general didn’t like RBB and Zimzalabim that much so they didn’t bother to check them. And Koreans don’t care for most idols songs since last year now.
