News Dispatch releases article of Wonho's and Jung Da Eun's use of marihuana (2 Viewers)

Source: Starship Entertainment Terminates Wonho’s Contract + Responds To Report About Alleged Marijuana Use In 2013

Dispatch interviewed two "witnesses" of the case, director and MD of Burning Sun called "Jo" (who is currently in police's custody for use of various drugs himself) as well as Jung Da Eun in October.

Jo told dispatch that he caught both Wonho and Jung Da Eun smoking marihuana in dressing room while he was visiting Jung Da Eun to borrow Balmain belt.

Jung Da Eun told her side of this saying that she met Wonho in cafe in 2013 where he showed her bag of marihuana. They went to Jung Da Eun's home to smoke it together.

Police has been investigating Wonho's alleged drug use since September 2019 and they already had questioned both Jo and Jung Da Eun receiving their testimonies. They deemed testimonies credible since they were basically same.

Statute of limitations for drug use is 7 years in South Korea, so 1 year still reminds that within Wonho can be prosecuted for this. Police has not questioned Wonho yet, however they did body and luggage search on him back in September on airport when he was returning from MonstaX's concert. Starship states that they were aware that search took a place, but weren't aware Wonho was being investigated for use of marihuana.

So I guess the debt thing wasn't the bulk of this after all, and Wonho would been screwed either way I guess he can still deny it and probably it won't show in tests anymore unless he has smoked more recently. But two witnesses giving same testimony is still a lot against him.

I'm not sure if that's where this started anymore. If Jung Da Eun wanted her debt collected going to police and talk about Wonho using marihuana and exposing herself in the process doesn't seem like logical course of action. I mean sure it's a revenge, but you are also putting yourself in bad position. It could be that this is sth police found about while interrogating Jo since it seems like he was first to talk about it and only after that police went to Jung Da Eun. So probably Jung Da Eun already know the drug stuff would be exposed and decided to be the one to start the fire with debt stuff. That's my theory.

I guess it's the atmosphere of entertainment industry, it seems like tons of people within it use drugs, idols, producers, other staff, people they spent time and party with. If we look at people who have been caught, they are all connected in some way. Maybe it starts to feel like some kind of bubble that is detached from law and society, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, that kind of thinking?

I do find it extremely stupid, I always want to bang my head against wall when I hear about it. In South Korea's society you want to be an idol but do sth that could jeopardize it all. I get that if it's person's past, sth they did before becoming idol or even trainee, then it's your past coming to haunt you even when u have moved from it and that shouldn't be held against you.

Smoking weed is criminal act in my country as well and not sth that is normal to do, I haven't tried and none I know have. So I kinda get rly looking down on weed use since I kinda do too, it's just sth that is culturally seen sth bad only addicts who have lost touch with society do ^^; But although it's illegal you won't get jail time for using it here, you will get fined and police will try to direct you to rehab. And i definitely think rehab is more appropriate place for drug users (not seperating weed here though many don't think it even shouldn't be illegal) than prison, I think the mentality should be that if someone is drug addict they get help for their addiction not punishment.

Nth has been proved yet true, but news on this kinda keep people updated on whats going on.

Well the one investigating Wonho of drug use is police so he might get prosecuted by justice system if enough evidence is found, so far there is two matching testimonies against him. I don't think individuals can take him court for drug crime, it will be prosecutor doing that. In terms of debt, I'd guess Jung Da Eun didn't go to police for it and there probably isn't documents about it since it seems like friend borrowing money to friend and usually you don't make papers for that. It should be sth settled in private, but Jung Da Eun definitely wanted public attention and pressure on Wonho about it, either for revenge or thinking she would get her money that way maybe both.

I always found it weird how you can land in jail for drug use cause that'll help that person get in a better place even if there was no knowledge on mental health that just doesn't add up. If this has been going on for a while though it might not of been 1 thing that made him quit but just the accumulation of everything was too much, hopefully he doesn't do anything rash and this all gets sorted.

I hate to play cannabis-defender role here, but I'll just add this: It makes absolutely zero sense to be fine with alcohol and tobacco while demonizing weed. Just compare the number of deaths, diseases, cancers caused by alcohol/tobacco vs weed. And I did not even mention the number of violent crimes committed by folks under influence of alcohol.

Yes, but also different society. That doesn't really happen where I live, nobody uses drugs even weed. Which is mostly seen as same thing as any drug. Even artists very rarely get caught of drug use and they are met with disgusted comments- though not completely pushed out of industry and plp calm about it lot quicker than in Korea. It's just not normal at all. Unlike alcohol use, which is used lot more than it should xd

I don't rly disagree with u about cannabis possibly being less worse drug than alcohol, but I don't rly want it normalized either. I'm fine with fine and rehab system.
