Well not exactly on climate change, my stance on that is simple... It's real.

but my stance on how it is portrayed and fed to the masses is so fucking stupid and idiotic it makes me want to bash my head in every time I see it.
So much of the information that is told about climate change and how and what it affects things is so... so... wrong or it leaves out a lot of important details.

For example It will destroy the coral reefs. The coral reefs are getting bleached and will be destroyed.
The reality of that is, the coral reefs will just reappear somewhere else. In the history of the planet earth and in the times corals have existed, the climate HAS already changed and gotten warmer and colder etc etc. Just because this time the change is caused by human activity, doesn't mean the corals will react any differently. The corals won't disappear, they will just relocate.

Another example will be a very specific one... I was watching a BBC nature show and there was this bit about Albatross chicks and how climate change causes storms that can push chicks out of the nest. That is a problem because albatross parents recognize the chicks because they are in their nest. If the chick is out of the nest the parent won't recognize it.

And then... Then... Mr David Attenborough himself. In his beautiful voice said... This creates a problem the Albatross are not equipped to handle. Sounds legit so far right. Only like a minute later they showed the chick climbing back into the nest. NOT EQUIPPED TO HANDLE???? WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU SAYING!!??? I know not all chicks will be able to climb back in. I know due to climate change prolly more chicks are falling out of nests BUT...How TF does that = not able to handle.

And these are just a few example, but again and again I see so much dumbed down and dramatized shit about climate change. I know it is probably because people are dumb and need to be shocked for them to care. But still.. The idiocy makes me angry.

you cant compare natural climate change to the damage we are causing tho. the rate at which we emit CO2 today is much higher than the most destructive climate changes the earth has gone through, and the damage we've done is irreversable. yeah, coral reefs can relocate, but not at a fast enough pace to keep up anymore. we're reaching a tipping point; if we dont save them now they will go extinct.

I think it definitely is full of fearmongering right now. I'm all for solutions, but lot of these solutions don't work that well. Electric cars don't work that well in cold weather, just like smartphones don't- it drains battery like crazy, but yes let's replace all cars to electric one's in North Europe. Really good call, especially for those who don't have heated indoors for their car and have to keep it outside in the frost and for those who live middle of forest with no recharges close. :susPepe:

And what a good idea is try to tax meat, like farming industry isn't rly struggling right now. Like let's bring down all the food production within the country so we can fly food here in airplanes, that will surely save environment.

The thing is that most of the changes aren't the one's that normal citizens need to make. It's up to goverment's and factories. Instead of cutting carbon emissions last year USA rose them. India and China are polluted af, some citizens in India have turned hazardous. It doesn't matter what people down do if the people up keep making decisions that worse things.

Some of it is probably exaggerated yeah, but I still think that its overall a very negative thing that is affecting the climate in ways that are unprecedented and that we are responsible. Also tbh there's misinformation on the other side too so I dont see it as a reason to disagree with it.

Most of the climate changes the earth has gone through weren't due to CO2 emissions... Saying Coral reefs can't relocate because the change is too fast, doesn't really matter. Why?

Because What corals need is for the right condition. While the conditions might disappear in one place, the same conditions will appear in others. Corals will release a burst of all the seeds / whatever it is you call them into the ocean

Oh yeah anybody disagreeing that climate change is happening and is a problem is stupid.
But then again, it looks like to me a lot of the people not against it are stupid too...

conclusion... people are stupid.

several factors contributed to past climate changes but atmospheric composition and greenhouse gasses played a big part too; carbon concentrations and temperature are closely related...

the faster the climate worsens, the more reef will die before it can "relocate" is what i was saying? that and if we continue like this we will reach a point after which there will be nowhere for it to go. the ocean is getting more acidic as it absorbs more carbon and thats a worldwide problem. it also gets warmer ,thats why reefs are slowly moving towards the poles where its cooler but still warm enough. relocation is only a temporary surviving solution for the coral reefs.

I did a project on this so I know a lot about it. Corals need carbonates in order to build their skeletons, and as the ocean becomes more acidic and carbonates decrease. This isnt a problem thats exclusive to one area, its happening around the globe so you cant just say that the conditions that are needed will appear somewhere else. This acidification isnt just a problem for corals, many other sea creatures or structures depend on them to survive. Other fish are also affected because they haven't adapted to their environment. In the past most changes were gradual, allowing them to adapt to their conditions but there isnt enough time with the rate that climate change is going. There have been cases where the climate has abruptly changed, but that was only during disastrous events, like the asteroid that wiped out the dinosaurs. That was also known as the last major extinction event. At the moment, we are going through another great extinction event. Out of 8 million plant and animal species, 1 million are endangered.

So I still stand by what i say before, but just with this I think this shows that sometimes people arent actually fear mongering, the truth is just complicated to get at. And if youre wondering my sources they were all peer reviewed scientific sources or government sources, so theyre as reliable as you can really get.

I could also talk about how carbonate levels are affecting mangrove forests in the UAE, which causes sea level to increase drastically due to the lack of sediment to protect against it and how it affects the ecosystem here but I think ive talked enough lol.
