News SBS issues second apology after first one was called trash (1 Viewer)

"On December 26, SBS has released a second apology, this time addressed to Wendy, her family, the other members of Red Velvet, and fans, and it reads as follows

We wish to apologize once more regarding 2019 SBS Gayo Daejeon.

During the rehearsals for Gayo Daejeon on December 25, an unfortunate accident took place. SBS wishes to once more sincerely apologize to Red Velvet’s Wendy, who was injured, as well as her family, the members of Red Velvet, and fans.

As Wendy’s recovery comes before all else, the director of SBS’s entertainment division and the staff have been working closely with her agency SM Entertainment since the accident occurred, and we are doing our best to provide adequate treatment for her injuries.

Right after the accident took place on December 25, the staff blocked off the area and called for emergency services so that Wendy could be rushed to the hospital and undergo a thorough examination. We have begun an internal investigation into understanding the exact details of the accident, and once we fully understand the cause, we will take greater care to ensure that such an accident does not occur again.

Wendy is currently undergoing inpatient treatment and examination at a hospital in Seoul. SBS promises to do our best to work with Wendy’s family and the medical staff to ensure that Wendy has a quick and full recovery.

Once again, we wish to sincerely apologize to Red Velvet’s Wendy and her family."

If SBS had released this initially, it would have assured fans they cared (at least enough to not look like they were more sorry for their ratings dropping).

Who knew behind the scenes that was SBS apparently helping SM and Wendy? It's good to hear I guess, as they should be doing all they can to help.

And saying they are investigating what happened shouldn't take long. It's simple, the stage crew failed. Whether hired for the event or an SBS company, the stage crew should have ensured movement on and around the stage was safe. Clearly they never had at least one person on call (such as a floor manager) checking what and who was where. It was such an easy accident to avoid if they had floor manager/s directing the stage area. It's there job to ensure movement on stage only happens when certain stage pieces, props and equipment are in place. How the stage crew failed this is a joke!

I just don't get how they could forget the main person who had the actual accident in the first place.

Ofc, this is basically them tucking their tail between their legs after the deserved backlash to that poor first apology which was "we're sorry Wendy can't perform" like yeah because of your incompetence

I've not overly at all impressed in general with EVERY companies lack of concern. Look at the mess one show Champion was in 2016. Everyone was hitting the goddamn floor. Instead of stopping and saying hey saftey isn't where it should be, or you know limiting dancing, nope they continued on. Worse is if in-ears are not water proof they can lead to some unpleasant shockings. Heck look at the ISAC people mentioned concerns about that and no changes really have been made.

My point is no one cares about idol saftey companies like money. The government isn't really going to hold them liable unless a death happens.

I would be more conveniced if SBS would have admitted off the bat that their were some failure/mistakes and they were investigating. This feels like more get off our arse we don't like bad publicity even if true.

So it took backlash for them to realize that Wendy could've died or be permanently injured after falling almost the height of a whole floor due to their negligence. At first I was sad for Wendy, because accidents happen but now I'm honestly pissed. Not only they knew it was unsafe, they did nothing about it being unsafe.
