This isn't shaping up to be a good year for Twice, only 6 days in and already 3 controversies

She really did get an unexpected amount of backlash for what she said, even though she was right, just blunt.

It's slowly mounting into a "Twice is unhinged" narrative with people bringing up Momo dating, Sana's "scandal" from last year and Dahyun's "attitude issues" all of which is being taken dangerously out of context. Momo even apologized for starting the year off with a dating scandal. Hopefully with this, people will back off for a while...

It's very concerning. Last year wasn't great already and I'm sure it was way worse than we know considering no one would have guessed Jihyo was mentally distressed as well.

They need a break and badly

Yeah like seriously fuck netizens. None of these things are remotely twice's fault either. Dating? Getting stalked? Saying blah blah blah? None of this should be a controversy directed at Twice. And this whole 'blahblahblah' is a radical feminist phrase issue screams political spin to me. It's just a way for netizens to find an angle to attack. It's pretty backwards if 'Blahblahblah' counts as radical feminism in Korea these days. I've heard that girls in Korea do use this phrase, it's just that 'radical feminists' happen to do too. The standards we have for idols is really too insane. I agree they need a mental break from things, but something needs to be done about netizen culture. It feels like nothings changed at all, and they'll still be able to read the bad comments on break. I don't like that Jihyo had to put out a statement and apologize for a small thing she did, but she was honest. Hopefully, more idols will be willing to come out and be more honest about how much rumors and netizens bother them and it can spark a change in that culture.

Okay, so she reacted a bit bluntly but there's nothing wrong with that. If you think about how much she's gone through and her position, I think I would react way worse as a celebrity. Jihyo doesn't normally talk like that and it wasn't even directed to her fans, so I don't understand what she did wrong. I feel bad for her and Twice, let them have a break already and not have to hold everything in, they've been calm and hardworking up to now. They're a group who give so many people bright energy and happiness, they deserve the same too..for a company that constantly shoves mental health as a priority, I really hope they live up to it. It seems people never learn regarding mental health and the impact of words.
