We Need More R&B Crooners In Kpop Like G.O.D


You know what 3rd/4th/78th gen is missing?


R&B. R & fucking B.


I mean.... these trap/tropic/rap trends are okay.


But what everyone could use is an honest to god hanbok dropper group again.

You know I've never been a huge fan of slower songs like this. I've always been into "powerful" style songs.

But I've been watching and listening to a ton of first gen kpop lately and these style songs are really starting to grow on me. First gen kpop was just so much more soulful than today stuff.

I'm sure these new groups could pull this kind of music off but it's almost a relic from a lost era. At least in the title tracks.

And I'm all about the opposite of powerful generally haha. We're different that way.


And I'm sure quite a few groups could pull stuff like this off. But you're right. This particular style is pretty much a relic of the past. It's that 90s esque R&B that was then filtered through to kpop on a slight delay and made it's own that then has been left to the past.

GOd's almost like a Korean Boyz To Men in a way. Making an entire group of that style is unlikely anymore.


What have you been listening to? What groups? Any songs you've come to like.

Two groups I never heard of that I like now are a girl group called Cleo and a co ed group called S#arp.

And I've really been getting into Fin K.L.

Man I just looked up this song by CLEO and started listening to it.



How is it something like this from I a group I don't know of a time I wasn't paying attention to in a completely foreign country can make me feel nostalgic.

I literally feel that when I watch and listen to that.

That almost bittersweet feeling of a simpler youthful time lol.


That how I feel with a lot of the older gen stuff I've been getting into.

It's amazing how that can work.

Also a lot of it I really like because it's..... How to say..... More raw. Like a lot of it is not as "produced". A lot of it simpler and sort of has a little bit of a less polished feel but in a good way.


Anyway I'll check out the rest you mentioned.


I'll be excited for FINKL as I read KARA's initial sound, from the first album I love so much was modeled as a "new" FINKL before they switched gears for the group when it didn't perform.

That's a great description for first gen. Raw. But it's so damn magical..I've been watching so much that second gen kpop is not old to me anymore. First gen is a completely different world from second gen and I've fallen for it and might not be able to climb out cause it's so good.

There was another Cleo song I liked but I forgot what it was called.

And FIN K.L. is da mother fuckibg bomb.

This is so 90s I love it so much.
