All day I hear the blah blah blah whitewashing bad yada yada yada they aren’t they pale incessantly. Fine, whatever. Some photos/idols are obv edited, sure.
but the lengths people go with this whitewashing thing is absolutely ridiculous.

I mean, I don’t think most fansite idol photos are whitewashed at all.


also, insulting the whitewashed photos??? Tweets like this

which is just completely rude and unthoughtful??? This is just flat out hating on lighter skin tones. People with pale skin already get enough of this as it is, don’t add to it. all this does is shame them for their skin color.

plus, whitewashing whiners just completely ignore the fact that yes, people can be pale. Like Yoongi. HES PALE. This is basic common knowledge for any day old army but they just push it aside because it doesn’t fit their agenda of evil fansites bad.

also they’re just really stupid??? I came across these which made me mad enough to write this whole thing

am I delusional??? I thought this was Korean pop? You know, that East Asian country??? The one where the World Health Organization reported that ~40% of them said they regularly used whitening products??? Apparently not.

I’m the the crazy one who’s been imagining that there are factors that can affect the way a person looks in a photo!!!
say it with me now kids-finding a photo with bad lighting does not mean an idol has suddenly turned Mexican

these leeches lord it over everyone else, spamming the comments of every fansite that does bend to their will with hate when they have zero right to. who paid for the fansite’s tickets? the camera? the travel expenses? that’s right-the fansites, not these wastes of space

But you know what??? Disregarding all of this, I still hate the whitewash talk. You know why?? Look at the most recent Jimin selca.

This is e x a c t l y what would be called whitewash. 100%. And let’s say for a moment that it is and he’s some melanin god irl. But Jimin is the one who took this photo and decided to post it. He wants to be seen like this. How cruel is it of ‘fans’ to take that away from him????

I do understand that opinions against whitewashing is taken too far on more than a few occassions but I can see why people object to whitewashing as well. It's not that people prefer seeing darker or lighter skin: they prefer seeing an idol's natural skin tone regardless of whether the idols want to reveal the proper skin tones or not.

I quite like fansite photos. Although fansites do use it to make their idols seem 'lighter', it's more of a stylistic thing that anything at this point. I don't really know much about art but whitewashing the whole photo makes the idol in the photo stand out a bit more.

I think this is a good example:

I personally prefer the second photo but in the first photo, she stands out more.

if it helps: The concept of lighter skin has much to do with {in areas of East Asia} has less to do with attaining some semblance of Anglo looking skin and more about social class... The logic is darker skin means you were a laborer and lighter skin meant you were richer... so...

You are SO DAMN right, Some ppl just are REALLY damn pale! like my bby Woozi for example just IS pale, bcs his ass is for one naturally that and for two doesn't step a foot outside! Ppl are crying whitewashing, but THIS is what he looks like to another member!

I'm going to hold my surprise that you gave me a genuine like instead of an angry one that you usually do. lol..

I honestly don't care about their skin. And its such a multipronged issue. Even celebs in US have issues with this. A makeup artist can really fuck up your skin for a photoshoot. I've seen African-American celebs be accused of bleaching their skin when it was only that their makeup artist used lighter makeup.. And has anyone seen Kim K? Sometimes she looks like a typical hollywood white woman, other times she resembles one of my family members (who are mixed race)... so I will stop talking since I'm rambling and I'm sure you're about to say, "I don't give a fuck about the Kardashians or non-Jimin celebrities!"
