Hello. As a die hard MeU I wanted to make this thread. I had a lot of fun writing it.

5. Members Ages:

When f(x) debuted in September of 2009 this group was immediately notable for the members ages. Victoria was 22, Amber was 17, Luna was 16, Sulli was 15, and Krystal was (a mind blowing at the time) 14 years old. Perhaps what's even more shocking than Krystal's age is the fact that there was an 8 year age gap between the youngest and oldest member of a group. Correct me if I'm wrong please but as far as I know that's the biggest age difference between members of the same group ever seen. This means when Victoria debuted with f(x) she was already two years older than the oldest member of SNSD. So who bows to who?
4. Members Ethnicity:

f(x) was one of the first if not the first kPop group to have more foreign members than natural born Koreans. Luna and Sulli were both born in South Korea respectively but the other three came from afar. Victoria was born in China while Amber and Krystal were both born in California. This could have been on purpose also as f(x) was also one of the first kPop groups to have all easy to pronounce western names as it was clear from the get go this new girl group would aim at trying to gain a western fan base. The strategy worked as f(x) became one of the most followed and respected kPop girl groups during the second generation in the west. Even becoming the first kPop group ever invited to the popular South by Southwest music festival in Dallas. Even after their disbandment f(x) has a strong and loyal following in America, Great Britain and China.
3. Victoria:

We've seen even today how some Chinese idols are treated in Korea. Even by SM Entertainment themselves. So the fact that in 2009 (practically still the dark ages of kPop) SM Entertainment not only put Victoria in their new girl group but made her the LEADER of said girl group speaks volumes. Victoria is one of the rare idols and entertainers that is basically straight up royalty wherever she goes. SM invested so much into her from day one. She was appearing in SM music videos long before f(x) debut with the most notable being SHINee "Replay". Even after f(x) chose to not renew their contracts and disband Victoria was the only member SM was doing everything in their power not to lose. Commonly referred to as the Queen of China she was so valued as a property that she could do just about anything she wanted. I don't think it's too much of a stretch to say Victoria was second only to BOA within SM as a valued asset to the company.
2. Amber:

It's actually really amazing at all the risks SM tookwith this girl group back in 2009. But Amber is the most notable risk by far. When f(x) debuted in 2009 we were only two years into the girl group golden age that began in 2007 with Wonder Girls, SNSD, and Kara commonly referred to as WonSoKa. Prior to this girl groups were DEAD. So why would SM risk all this momentum by debuting an androgynous Justin Bieber lookalike? When the first teasers dropped for this new girl group half the comments were "Is that a boy?? In a girl group??" Seeing something like this in 2009 was absolutely unheard of in kPop. But Lee So Man knew what he was doing as he was the one who spotted Amber in the crowd at a global audition in LA in 2008 and told an employee "Go get her right now and bring her to me". The rest is history. Many argue f(x) wouldn't have been assuccessful or wouldn't have stood out from the competition without Amber. Whether you like her or not there's no denying she is a star. EVERYBODY knows Amber. Whenever I watch a f(x) noob reaction video on YouTube the person ALWAYS SAYS "the only member I know is Amber. I love Amber."

Rum Pum Pum Pum: cute/school girl/teen crush?
Red Light: classy badass?
4 Walls: dreamy?
f(x) are the Queens of Concepts. They got so many concepts half of them haven't even been invented or named yet. That's how ahead of their time they truly are. In today's girl group landscape where you only have cute and bad ass f(x) are just on another level. Pioneers if you ask me. The closet they ever got to sexy was the B Side promotion of "Milk" and this alone proved they could have gone toe to toe with SNSD in the sexy department if they truly wanted to. But this is f(x) we're talking about. They got too many other routes to explore than stick with the same thing over and over. Had they stuck around as a group we can only imagine what they would have done next...or maybe we couldn't...they werealways full of surprises weren't they?
Anyway that's all I got. These are the five reasons I feel f(x) stands out from any kPop girl group ever and why they are by far my favorite group of all time.
I hope this small read convinces just one new kPop fan to go and explore the second gen phenomenon f(x)
