I know I might get hate for this but nugu groups usually stay nugu for a reason. yes, it's usually because they're from smaller companies but still, many nugus aren't unique enough to break out. the majority of them are usually just following what bigger groups do and not actually trying to break out of the shell. and tbh a lot of them lack the star factor. the nugu groups that have broken out and have gotten decent success are usually groups who are unique and good. I mean look at Loona, they have a unique concept with a whole ass storyline that's been going on since 2016, they have great music videos, their music is actually good and it fits their own style, they still come from a small company, and they're very popular right now and are continuing to grow their fanbase. that's only one example but there are a lot of kpop groups who used to be nugu who broke out because they actually tried something different or idk they were just more interesting (ahem the biggest kpop group in the world right now, bts ahem). I mean I always see kpop fans talking about how unfair it is that only big three groups are popular and talking about how kpop fans should explore more of their options, but can you blame us? big three groups serve quality constantly. big three groups are all talented and usually have that it factor about them, they're popular for a reason. Whenever I see kpop fans recommending me nugu groups and I check them out, they just do not stand out to me, all I think is that they're just another group trying to become a bts, blackpink, twice, exo, etc 2.0
I hope this doesn't sound mean but It needed to be said.
