I'm just here for the music.
I could care less about who's in the lead or who's not.
I mean I get hyped knowing groups are doing well and getting the recognition they deserve but
I'm not going to rant about a group that got overshadowed by another,
vice versa. Idk it just seems kind of silly in my opinion.

because most of the time charts matter to idols just as much as charts matter to fans. why do you think idols cry and get overwhelmed when they get their first win? because it means that they're actually getting somewhere in the industry. idols who say that they don't care for the charts are usually lying. unless your in a position where your already a veteran, or you're already so successful that you don't care because you've already reached those chart positions, you usually care about the charts. now, of course, the quality of music doesn't rely on the chart position, but it's nice when you're getting recognition for your work. and fans know this, so that's why they care so much.

To add to this.
Successful groups care.
I remember many sub 5 year groups very stressed about how well the song charted.
Joy and Seulgi both mentioned it a few times post 2016 that is a group with a collection of wins at all levels.
You could see what it meant to gfriend during time for the moon night.
Taeyeon brought up her 10 th I win at inky during her concert which was ~ same time It matters to them all.

they have posted class ranks throughout school. Here they are afraid to grade a paper with red ink cuz they might hurt someones feelings.
