I think that yes balance should be there and I honestly think letting fandom votes count so much or sales is the issue. If a group of professionals (similar to Oscars) would be able to influnce like half of the voting, things would look differently.

I didn’t even think about voting but yeah that’s another way girl groups are at a disadvantage. Boy groups just have more fan girls to vote for them.

exactly. I think how much voting counts is a serious issue when talking about gg's and bg's. Even less popular groups with amazing songs sometimes have no chance due to that.

I rlly think voting should only be for fan chosen awards. It has no business being in the criteria for awards like album of the year

It’s not really something you can fix. Bgs just appeal more to fan girls then girl groups do and fan girls are always more dedicated then fanboys.

I feel like a lot of companies push their bgs more than their ggs, but ig that depends on the company.

ggs work just as hard as bgs, it has more to do with the fact that bgs have more fandom appeal, they also have more fangirls.

You would need to do the same for boy groups with the digital daesang since boy groups competing with a girl group digitally is just as rare.

I'm opposed to the idea though because it devalues daesangs and it will inflate groups daesang counts compared to other groups.

I'm more for @notthatmarko idea of all categories being genderless since the rookie awards are never competitive, it's always one group dominating but maybe genderless would make it competitive.

The MAMAs tried that in 2014 due to a coed group debuting big; Winner won anyway.
