Michael Jacksons "Bad" music video would the highest viewed video of all time.

It would probably get 300 million views in first 24 hours in 1987. And it would be sitting near 40 billion views today.

Sure the album Thriller was the biggest thing that ever hit the planet but that's why Bad mv would be the biggest cause it was the first album since Thriller and the hype and anticipation was so big I think the video probably would have crashed youtube.

Blackpink is so lucky YouTube wasnt around in the 80s.

Thriller had a 13 min video premier that most of the world with cable access / or could get to somewhere with access watched.
View count may have bee a bit small since its 14 min...... it still has 700 million and a 2009 reup

I think i watched thriller video in the 80s or early 90s on tv, not MTV cos dont think Asia had MTV till mid/late 90s: sth like a special show on regular tv.
The only BIG choices then woulda been MJ, Madonna n maybe Springsteen; but i think Boomers holdover from the 60s or disco stans from 70s would hv streamed Beatles/Stones/ABBA if youtube existed in 80s, ur too young to remember but MTV was popular among young ppl but it was the adult execs who decided who to put on radio n shows/mtv then. So ppl wd hv streamed the biggest acts they liked-these big 3; only reason MTV dint show them was they went 4 youth demographic n 2 ex to make music videos n basically 2 rich 2 gaf then. Bono n U2/Springsteen come to mind as benefiting a lot fron music videos on MTV, also Suzanne Vega n Kate Bush, think they would be niche otherwise.
So ur premise while great ignores the previous powerhouses who woulda slayed on 80s youtube. Note the Eagles surged on MTV/billboard with music videos too.
Nice try, but BP r unbothered by ur revisionist history. Also Eliis Presley stans in 80s woulda hit a billion views on youtube in a week.
