Lol. I was referring to the "Female Idols Clarify Allegations Against Them “Joining A Soccer Team To Fraternize With Male Idols” thing that occurred this year.

Just saying, in SK, I feel like if BTS were a girl group (with no changes, everything the same except they're females), the group would be more harshly scrutinized because they're females. That's all.

Girl groups are typically not as popular as boy groups in general because most pop groups die hard fans are female adolescents who project their budding sense of romance onto their celeb crushes. BTS is big because they can fill the three main and one other kpop archetypes ; the self-insert, the friend and the boyfriend/girlfriend + the artist you admire. They could of course still match these as a GG but the heterosexual teen celeb romanticism just wouldn’t be there. Not enough guys are into pop groups and the LGBTQ+ community is a minority.

*This is why I welcome the girl crush of the 4th Gen.

I’ll also say this is why at least as a outsider into the rest of the Korean music industry it seems there are a lot more female soloist and successfully female soloist then guys. One of the branding that separates idols from non idols is the intense & intentional parasocial nature of idol groups even compared to idol soloist . With more focus on the GP & traditional musicians qualities minus the fandom, females have a better chance. Think about it how many long lasting soloist did 1st & 2nd Gen male idols make? (Seo Taji & the Boys we’re not idols). Or what about the 3rd Gen? Baekhyun sold 1 million yes but Hwasa is clearly more famous & successful in Korea proper in general. The #1 artist in Korea herself is IU.

Exact copy of BTS probabyl no as people like different things in ggs and bgs. Though in other hand if I think of gg who to me is similar to BTS it would be G-IDLE and they are doing pretty well these days Still, I dont' see female BTS becoming that big.

No, females are judged too harshly if Jungkook was a girl he probably would still be on hiatus right now for that minor traffic accident he got into last year and there be calls for him to leave the group. If BTS were women they would never be given the room to speak on social issues in the way that they currently do, look at what happened to Joy the other day just because she wore a t-shirt... If Suga was female, I don't think he would be able to talk about mental health publicly in the way that he does right now, people would want to wrap him up in cotton wool and treat him as though he's hysterical for talking about his negative emotions openly. The list goes on...

I completely agree with this. Plus, I don't think they would even sell half the albums they do right now because GG's naturally don't sell as much albums, and because they don't, companies tend to not focus as much on GG's, unless of course you are JYP, but that's a different story.

Also, GG's and BG's are different in the fact that they both have different styles, so no doubt, the female version of BTS might have got popular in their own way because they would never be able to get popular going BTS's way as BTS are male and male idols tend to have already automatically screaming fans.

I don't want to say this and it may seem like I'm being biased because I'm more of a GG stan and not a BG stan, but being guys is a big part of their success. I wouldn't say it is solely because they are guys though, but if they weren't male, they would have no where near the numbers they bring in right now.
